You can also do a demonstration for them and let them see and touch your wh=

Quite a few local leagues here have had to deal with this issue, but in thi=
s case it=E2=80=99s mainly rinks wanting to protect their floors as well.
=C2=A0
Some things you can offer that may put their minds at ease:

Make it a requirement that all skaters have toestops that are in good repai=
r.=C2=A0 Rubber only, no other material.
Make it a requirement that all pads be in good repair.=C2=A0 Any of them wi=
th exposed metal shouoldn=E2=80=99t be used.
No knee slides into the Penalty Box.
Anyone with a metal knee brace should wear a cover over it so that there=E2=
=80=99s no exposed metal.
No liquids allowed on the floor.
If you have a sport court, lay down a layer of tarp between it and the floo=
r.
=C2=A0
All of these items are things that various leagues around here have had to =
concede to help protect the floors at the facilities they practice in.

The problem isn't the wood floor... lots of rinks are wood.=C2=A0 The probl=
em is talking non-rink venues into letting us skate there.=C2=A0 THEY are a=
lways afraid we'll ruin their floors.=C2=A0 I think we're just really wonde=
ring how other leagues in the same situation have dealt with it.=C2=A0 When=
you can point out other leagues that practice in non-rink venues and how t=
hey do it to your non-rink venue it definitely puts you in a better place w=
ith your prospective venue.

I know I have seen talk of floor cleaning, & polishing arrangements and poi=
nting out other leagues that don't practice in rinks...

I'm not sure that anything you say will help but most skating rinks used to=
be wood floors.=C2=A0 It wasn't until fairly recently that people started =
skating on polished concrete and that was mostly because it was much cheape=
r and worked nearly as well.=20

The only banked tracks I've ever seen are wood floors.=C2=A0 (Although to b=
e honest, if you mention that they're going to picture derby from the 70's =
and probably be less likely to want you around.)

But as luck would have it, next weekend we're playing at Rainy City 's home=
rink (in Olympia Washington ) and they apparently have a wooden floor.=C2=
=A0 I don't know if any of their staff is on this board but I'll talk to th=
em about it while I'm there and see what advice they might have.=C2=A0=20
