Hi everyone.
Kathy McSparran here, from Phoenix, AZ. I just joined this discussion group and wanted to introduce myself. A few of you may know me already, but for those who don't, I am a IISA certified skating instructor. Additionally, I am an examiner, training and certifying other instructors around the US. I was one of the first to complete Steve Kay's Freestyle Dance Accreditation course up in Montreal, Canada. I also did some pairs inline skating, including one professional performance that included overhead lifts and spins, with Mark Merschen of Philadelphia, PA.
I have taught introductory courses in freestyle dance skating in Tucson, Phoenix, Boston, Pittsburgh, Miami and Syracuse, NY. I will be teaching a free intro to skate dance class here in Phoenix on April 9th to try to create a dance skating scene here in Phoenix.
I also own a pair of Harmony Sports' Pic Frame Skates and enjoy playing around with various figure skating moves like spirals, waltz jumps, spread eagles, bauers and of course spins. I learned a ton of figure blading footwork from Margreth Frei's Magic of Style series of three video tapes.
Anybody else found any good instructional videos or books on roller dance?
