--------------------- A Note From Kathie -------------------

I just returned from Trieste, Italy, where I attended an
international artistic roller skating workshop (as a
reporter, not a skater). I took more than 250 photos, and
I will post the best of them on my site within 1 or 2 weeks.

I got a bonus on the last day of the trip. I had a chance to
skate with two of the wildest and craziest skaters in Italy:
extreme sports show creator Massimo Bavieri and one of the
best downhill skaters in Italy, Guido Rosa (more about this
later).

RUBBER SKATE WHEELS AND A NEW TYPE OF BRAKE
While I was in Italy, I also met Dragan Milosovic, an
inventor from Yugoslavia who will introduce two new
products for skaters in the next few weeks: A high
powered "double action" brake for inline skates and a
rubber wheel made for downhill skating and skating in rain.
I will write more about both of those products soon.

SKATERS DO *NOT* LIKE FLASH WEB SITES
I have had a poll running on my site for about a week now,
and while there have only been 182 votes so far, I think it
is enough to give Web designers an idea of how users feel
about Flash Web sites: 10% of the voters said they like
Flash Web sites, 60% did not like Flash at all, and 30%
said they want all Flash Web sites to have a non-Flash

NEWS ABOUT THE SOUTH AFRICAN INLINE MARATHON:
The Southern Cross Marathon in South Africa might be
rescheduled to a date earlier in September, so it will
conflict with fewer events in other parts of the world.

NEWS FROM THE HUNGARORING INLINE FESTIVAL (May 4-6)
Registration is now opened for this even, and you can do it
on the event Web site by selecting "BOOK FOR". Videos of
skaters on the Hungaroring Formula One track have been
posted on the Web site, so you can see what the skating

VIDEO CLIP OF SKATING IN RUSSIA
One of my favorite Web sites is Oleg Vigodsky's "Skate
Touring in Russia". Oleg recently posted a new video
clip showing what it is like to skate in St. Petersburg.
