Hingis is back guys! It's now a 1-2 punch for swiss tennis in 2006!!
let's hope that Hingis would find her top form that made her the no.1 player in
the world. I
am anticipating to see Martina and Roger atop their respective rankings!
As for Roger, I hope that next year he'll be able to win Roland Garros and
finally complete
his trophy cabinet with the only grand slam title that has eluded him. I hope
the same
thing happens to Martina (i wonder why the French is the hardest Slam to win for
them...)
Goodbye Guys! Enjoy your Christmas!

I was shocked when he lost the final because I knew that the title was in the
bag when he broke Nalbandian in the fifth set. He was already serving for the
championship but he failed to deliver. I was really rooting for him when he came
back from 0-4 down in the fifth set.

I hope that he'll be back better and stronger this year. Hopefully, three
grand slams, more ATP master series titles and finish 2006 at No. 1.

I just want to share with you this article which is originally in Spanish. One
of John Wertheim's regular online readers of his column Tennis Mailbag
translated it in English.

----------------------------------------------

Finally, Ximo of London was kind enough to translate the Nadal-Federer into
English. Ximo writes: "I must admit it was hard to hold myself from adding
footnotes. So juicy is the text! I feel like an old tart getting so touched by
chivalry, but there must be worst ways of spending my free time."

Here's Ximo's translation ...

The day Federer visited Nadal

Two short careful knocks on room 449 in a luxurious hotel in Basel. Rafael Nadal
(the world No. 2) opens.

"Hola Rafa!" says Roger Federer.

"Hola, how are you?" replies Nadal, hardly believing the world No. 1 is standing
in front of him.

Federer is recovering from an injury and it's his first day without crutches. He
decided to surprise the man with whom he shares tennis world domination. Nadal
had arrived one hour before at Basel to have dinner with the managers of the
local tournament after giving up participation due to his knee tendonitis.

"Roger called and asked me for the hotel where Rafa was staying," explains
Vittorio Selmi, The ATP Tour manager. "When I told him he didn't think twice:
I'm on my way."

The fact that Federer lives in Basel might have made the meeting easier but
there are few sports where the No. 1 one keeps such an open and honest
relationship with his most direct rival. The Spaniard had won on Sunday night
the Madrid Masters series. One of the biggest achievements of his career.

Soon his phone rang showing a [text message]: "Hola, hombre! Rafa, bueno tennis
y Madrid! Muchos contento Rogelio por te."

The sentence was written in a car crash between Spanish and Italian that Federer
was sending to congratulate the Spaniard for his Madrid title. Nadal calls
Federer either "Number One" or "Rogelio," and Federer happily took up the
nickname.

Contact was re-established on Monday night. They didn't talk more than 20
minutes because Nadal had to fulfill his duties with the tournament. Federer did
have time to ask about the Madrid experience.

"It was hard, I felt lost," replied the Spaniard. Federer took off one sneaker
and showed his ankle to Nadal. It was still swollen from the injury he sustained
10 days before. And there was an unavoidable subject: soccer.

Federer regretted missing the tournament and therefore the opportunity to meet
his hero, Zinedine Zidane.

"Are you going to Shangai for the Masters?" asked Nadal.

Federer smiled. "I don't know, next week I start running and after that I will
start playing."

No more time left. Nadal left for the dinner, where he spoke better English than
with the press and Federer stayed to eat at the hotel.

It was already midnight when they crossed paths again. One on his way to bed and
the other going home. New exchange of good luck wishes. They want to continue
the chat in Shanghai.

Sports Illustrated senior writer Jon Wertheim covers tennis for the magazine and
is a regular contributor to SI.com.

Federer doubt

COULD Roger Federer’s ligament injury be worse than
first feared? The Swiss world No 1 would miss the rest
of the year if an operation is required on the damage
sustained in a routine practice session two weeks ago.

Federer withdrew from the Masters in Madrid and he
will not play his home-town tournament in Basle next
week. But a whisper gathering strength yesterday is
that he has damaged three ligaments, one significantly
worse than the other two, and that an operation cannot
be ruled out.

Please support us by going to our site and passing it
around to every one you know...do not let the Media
win by keeping what happened to us silent...

The US Media have kept our story quiet for 3 years now
while we still suffer among hostile people who do not
want to help us.

Will you help to get our true story out?

Do Not Let The US Media Win....Please pass our site
around. Please do not keep our true story of Inhumane
treatments against us quiet by doing nothing.

I am fighting back through our website for my disabled
husband and I and for our unborn child that I lost on
the hot street of Florida because of all the pain and
suffering inflicted upon us by all involved and the
hospital in Florida that refused to take me in.

Please do not send nasty emails and make us suffer even
more with the way we are suffering already.

Who will be so kind as to pass our true story around
to make sure it does not die?

Go to our website and read everything there....

Thank you so much

Agassi makes it official (though we all knew this) Federer is unlike
anyone he's ever played. Roger is better than Ape-Man (aka Pete)

Check out this article:

http://www.rediff.com/sports/2005/sep/12usopen3.htm

if you can't link to this, type "better than Pete" in the Yahoo search
engine and you should be able to find it.

Ciao!

ps - is Roger engaged to Mirka? Did anyone see her ring? I sure hope
so!!! It's about time he was a winner in love also :-)
