In this age of unabashed greed, pomposity and atrocious behaviour in
professional sports, Roger Federer has shown the world what it is to
be the greatest and remain a gentleman. He is a shining example to
aspiring young sportsmen and women, which is more than can be said of
some of the other tennis players on the professional circuit.No loud
grunts and groans,no temper tantrums,no fashion gimmicks or ugly and
antagonistic gestures, always showing respect to his opponents and
never taking anyone or anything for granted.That is the sign of true
greatness.From his headband down to his shoes, he is the epitome of
simplicity, neatness, and class.
He deserves to be No 1 for many more years. Younger contenders may
threaten to take away his Wimbledon crown , but for the sake of the
beautiful game of tennis I, for one, hope and pray that he remains
World Number One for many more years to come, for the example he sets
to sportsmen and women of this world on how one should conduct
onesself when blessed with a God given talent.
