Due to time constraints surrounding my children's school on Thursday, I'll have to ride from Rocky Mount.
My children are out of school Friday and I'll need a babysitter. It would be nice to leave from Rocky Mount as well, so I don't have to pay another hour of "drive" time. BTW anyone have a teenager looking to make some babysitting money Friday? Friday at 9:00 works for me. I'll have to begin the babysitter search regardless of time.

Hey,
For anyone interested in making up for this lost weekend; I'm riding Thursday (1.75 hrs) and Friday (3.0 hrs). The weather looks much more agreeable, down right hot even for Friday and the rest of the weekend. Tim, I'm not sure if the winds are predicted to be strong enough to make your ride enjoyable. Anyhow, I'd love company! Let me know. Thursday I cannot ride until noon. Friday I can ride anytime after 8:30a.m.

I got a basic picture of what the routes for the rides will be. All the road names are not included, but at least you can have an idea as to the area. Hope this helps. Eric
The 10 mile route:
Cross over 301 at the light and go behind Honeywell, cross over RR tracks and take to the road that goes past Fountain. Take that to first intersection. Stay on that road to Battleboro. Come back the same way.
22 mile route: Starts out the same, but takes Seven bridges road a good portion of the way. We turn Left on the second intersection going to Battleboro. Return the same route. Hardly any traffic on this route.
42 mile route: Starts out the same and we take a Right off of seven bridges road to Leggett. There is another Left turn on 97 I believe and we stay on it for about 3 miles. The route back is different. We take 33 to seven bridges road. Hardly any traffic except the short distance on 97.
Hope that helps. I wish I could remember the names of all the roads.
Actually the only route that has a little traffic is the 10 mile route, but it is a short distance. We hope to have a couple extra helpers on that route to keep everyone in line.

JUST ABOUT EVERYONE CAN RIDE A BICYCLE........................and it
is so much fun to ride with friends and family.
All employees of NHCS and their friends and families are invited to
join a bike ride;
March 28th at 9:00 AM leaving from the Dunn Center Parking Lot at
Wesleyan College.
This bike ride is a good way to:
1. get great exercise
2. start your spring off right
3. meet people
4. build team spirit
5. help to raise money for the American Red Cross
We will have several seasoned bicycle riders to lead you on the back
country roads of Nash, Edgecombe and Halifax counties.
Choose from one of the following rides:
10 mile ride Beginners. Slow pace.
Children who ride their bikes can ride this one.
22 mile ride Beginners – intermediate (9-12 mph)
42 mile ride Intermediate (12-16 mph)
42 mile ride Advanced (18+ mph)
Some things to remember:
1. wear a helmet for safety
2. stay on the right side of the road and obey all vehicle
traffic rules
3. use hand signals when making turns
4. bring water with you on your ride
5. don't leave anyone alone
WE HAVE CHOSEN ROADS WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC
There will be refreshments provided by Chic-fil-A ready for you when
you complete the ride.
Donations for the American Red Cross will be accepted at the time of
the ride. We will not specify an amount, but would appreciate a
donation from each rider. ($20 suggested for adult, $25 for family)
Please call Judy at 443-8118 if you plan to ride.
Leave your name, names of friends and family and a phone number.
There will be a rain date of March 29th at 1:30.
I have a 1.5 hour ride scheduled today due to work stuff scheduled
tomorrow. Thanks for the invite. We'll get out there soon.

Judy asked me to post this. This is not the same as the metric century ride in the past, but I am sure it will be well run. If you think you may be interested, let everyone know so that we can organize to have a good turn out.
It will be a fun ride to raise money for the American Red Cross. March 28th at 9:00 AM at the Dunn Center. There will be several rides. 12 mile slow ride for beginners - short cut to Battleboro and back 22 mile intermediate ride 10-13 mph - longer ride to Battleboro and back 42 mile intermediate ride 12-17 mph - to Leggett and back 42 mile fast pace ride 18+ mph -
We would like to ask for a donation of $20 from everyone that rides to support the Red Cross, but since we are not having a meal we can not require it.

I am fine with a Saturday morning, Sunday morning ride. ?9:00? until it warms up a little. Keep the distance 35 or less for the first month. The 26 mile loop we did was a good distance for us hibernating sea mammals. As you saw last week, my "Seal" blubber is growing as well. We need to push one another to get off the insulation!
In late March, the time changes and a resovoir ride around 6:00 is do-able for weekdays. That way Kinnie can ride and set the pace!

Wish I could join you. I generally ride during the week, during school hours and save the weekend for family (accept for the Saturday morning run). So if you, or any other RMRC, get an occasional moment during the weekday to ride, let me know. I'd love the company.

Hello all:
I am going to clean up the membership. I have about 5 members

The program will also tell me which of the members bounce. If it
bounces I am going to expect that the email address is no longer
valid. Does anyone see an issue with this plan? My goal is to limit
the amount of exposure we face to potential spammers. I would like to
see this site be useful to us and see our biking group grow and
organize.
Thanks.

Hello all:
I hope that the winter has treated you well and that you are starting
to think about riding again.
I decided to remove all messages prior to 2009 from the site. I don't
think they will be misses as most of us use this for organizing rides.
I did not see a reason for having the history. I am also going to go
through and do a membership check to see who is who is not still
active. I will delete all names from the directory that are not active.
Finally, I am ready to get back out on the roads or the trails. I have
a bit of Seale blubber to burn off from the winter. Apparently I took
to hibernating a bit better than expected. The back is feeling good and
I have enjoyed a couple of rides over the past few weeks. I have a long
way to go. I have learned that 6 months of no riding means that a 16.5
mph average on the Reservoir route all but kills me. I am looking for
people to make me work and get back into shape.
Is anyone doing a regular ride schedule? If we were to set up a weekly
ride time/day - what days and times should we aim for? I would love to
see us get a Saturday morning ride set - and it doesn't have to be uber
early. I am looking for input, so suggestions would be great.
Eric
I'm riding Wed. Sorry I can't join you tomorrow; sounds like a great ride. Just wondering if anyone would be interested in riding Wed? I plan on riding about 1.75 hrs and I have to start about 10:00a.m. as I tutor at 1:00. Thursday I plan to ride ez for 1 hr. I'm heading out at 11:00. I would love to have company if anyone is interested.

Anyone up for a pre-Superbowl bike ride? Eric
Sent from my iPod
I am realizing that am oversupplied on bikes, that I am not going to do much mountain biking again (mostly road these days) and I need a new road bike for safety in group rides - too many close calls drafting on a tri bike!
Therefore, I have several bikes I am looking to sell. All have some mileage, but are in good working order. Test riding is suggested, come get one and try it. I would prefer to sell them locally. I can offer to service them if needed and I will certainly adjust the fit to whomever purchases one. If no one is interested locally, I plan to put them on Ebay.
Cannondale F3000 (front suspension) in a large size in Volvo Team colors. It has a mixture of XT/LX parts, SRAM twist shifting and Mavic CrossMax Wheels. As I usually ride/rode my Jekyl, this bike probably has around 350 to 400 miles on it. It would be a great Cross Country / Xterra race bike.
Raven II, Carbon Fiber / aluminum, dual suspension bike (large) with disc brakes and a mixture of XT/LX parts, Shimano rapid fire shifting, and the frame was strengthened at the factory by the lead engineer. As an upfront FYI - Ravens were discontinued due to frame fatigue failure (that usually occurred when people jumped them off drop offs etc. This bike was produced outside of the production lots that failed, and as I mentioned, I had the engineer add a foam insert to the bottom bracket area and the seat post area to give better torsion strength. I have probably put less than 200 miles on this bike. I would not necessarily suggest using this for racing downhill, but for cross country / off-road riding in this area, it would be perfect - and it looks uber cool. It is fairly light for a dual susp. disc bike.
Aluminum 56cm (good for riders in the 5' 9 to 6' 0 range) size, CAAD 5 red, white and blue tri bike that I am thinking of (but not totally decided upon) selling. This bike has Ultegra/DuraAce parts and DuraAce/Mavic wheelset with 9 speed cogs.
If interested, I'd be happy to show them to you, let you ride them and we can talk dollars then. Pricing will be advantageous to encourage a sale and not have them collecting dust.
I looked in the two bags I thought it might be in - did not find it. There are some boxes that will take some cleaning to get to. I will try to get to it, but time is a tad pinched at the moment. Sorry it is taking so long. Eric

Hello all,
To the (many) of you who do not know or remember me, I am a Rocky
Mounter who now lives in Raleigh.
My right side Ultegra Road shifter/brake lever has died from overuse.
My mechanic says it is unfixable.
Any of you with spare parts have a 9 speed Ultegra right side flight
deck?? Want to sell it?
Hope all is well in Nash county.
Please call or e-mail.
Thanks,
