Hey everybody!
The newest Microbrewery in Rochester wants the KREW and BRIGAGE on
Saturday Night at 5:00pm.
BRU Brewing Company at 300 State Street in Rochester is opening up
for us and putting on extra bartenders, so there will be no waiting
for drinks before the game.
Not sure what to have from their extensive drink menu ?Try the Double
Chocolate Porter or Double India Pale Ale (brewed 100% from New York
hops) or get a little adventurous and GO DOGGIE STYLE !
Wanna Walk there from the Clarion? The weather should be gorgeous.
Or you can take the Clarion Hotel Shuttle and tell them you are going
to BRU.
BRU will have their full menu available. Their specialty is micro
brewed drafts, but you can of course get your favorite bottled beers
as well.
You won't be bored with 3 pool tables, dart boards, Golden Tee and of
course Plasma TVs all over the place.
Hope to see everyone out there on Saturday at 5:00pm.

Tha Nut and family will be in attendance. Thought I would check in
the Nest first then look for other seats. I figured I would wear the
spikes and a Bandits pennant as a loincloth. Its an old MILL pennant,
but should do the trick.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHATS GOING ON FOR THIS WEEKEND? ARE WE PRACTICING ANYWHERE?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW, THANKS

Join the Krew at Bennigan's this weekend!
Rochester Knighthawk fans can cheer on their National Lacrosse League
All-Stars at Bennigan's Grill and Tavern in the Clarion Riverside
Hotel on Sunday, February 22nd. The party runs from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.
and includes two for one drink specials and half-price appetizers.
Bennigan's is located on the first floor of the Clarion Riverside
Hotel in downtown Rochester. The grill and tavern will also air the
live play-by-play broadcast of the 2004 NLL All-Star Game from
Denver, Colo.
The Rochester Knighthawks will be well represented at the game. Four
players and Head Coach Paul Day will participate for the Eastern
Division All-Stars as they battle the best from the Western Division
at the Pepsi Arena. The game is a 6:00 p.m. start on the East Coast.
Day will serve as the assistant coach for the East and goaltender Pat
O'Toole and defenseman Mike Hasen will start for the Eastern
Division. Forward Derek Malawsky and defenseman Andrew Turner will
also play in the game as they were selected as Eastern Division
reserves.

Hi all!
This is going to be a one time opportunity. I know it's on
Valentines day and that's a big day. With the charity event, The
Fann Cup being held in Rochester this year, the Knighthawks are
giving us this opportunity to play where the big dogs play.
We are asking that participants bring a helmet and stick. We're
playing right up until 6:30, an hour before game time. If you can
stop by that would be great. The Knighthawks have even provided us
with dressing rooms for both men and women to shower and change.
If there is another future time, we'll let everybody know. But as it
looks right now, this was the only available slot that the
Knighthawks had.

is this going to be a recurring event or just this one time? Would we
have to have our own sticks and equipment? Its the first question
more than the latter, as the wife has big plans for Saturday (which I
have yet to find out what they are, but its probably a safe bet that
my son and lacrosse arent atop the list :(
That Knabber...always thinking up the bestest of stuff! If only all
the teams in Rochester had great fans like the Krew!
This is from Knabber. It is for all those who are playing in the
Fann Cup. If you would like to know more about the Fann Cup please
visit www.fanncup.org or, join us on Saturday at the BCA! We are
ALWAYS looking for more players.
We have scored a coup Fann Cuppers.
The Rochester KrewHawks would like to invite anyone who wants to show
up on February 14th, 2004 at the Blue Cross Arena.
We are going to be practicing on the Knighthawks turf in the Arena
from 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm.
The time is absolutely FREE with one condition. We have got to the
get the word out about the game that night and sell some tickets. We
have not been given a minimum number of tickets to sell, but I figure
this is the closest that the San Jose Stealth (Albany Attack) will be
playing to Albany, we should get a bunch of fans from there.
I know Buffalo plays in Toronto the night before, but think of this
opportunity to play on the turf that the players play on. Brigade,
Roadies and KrewHawks all on the same floor having some fun!
Please RSVP to me here or at 585.415.6227 to let me know who is
interested in coming down.
Knabber da so pumped to play at the BCA
Well everybody, tonight is a pivitol game for our K-Hawks. When we
win, Coach is named the Head Coach of the All-Star head coach for the
East. We need to show our presence not only on the field, but in the
stands.
The Krew is taking over Pearl Street Grill at 5:00 for a pre-game
dinner. The more, the merrier! After that, we're gonna take on the
BCA West (Formerly known as the HSBC) by storm!
Hope to see you there!
KHC
Shocking headlines...and real spirit breakers as far as Im concerned.
Both out fo rthe season, Grant going out as the leagues #1 scorer.
Hopefully we get some guys to step up. Im sure we will.
OK Krew, we've been without lacrosse for two weeks too long!
Knabber has found a "secret location" here in Rochester that has
Sports Net Florida! That's right, this Fridays game, Colorado Vs.
Calgary is on LIVE TV at Tully's!
Let either Knabber (415-6227) or myself (jenniferlynn20@... -
or via this thread) know so we can save ya a bar stool or two!
Tully's is located at 1225 Jefferson Rd which is right next to
Perkins. Tully's even has appetizer specials at the bar as well!!
See ya at Tully's!
Trying to liven things up a bit in here, so check this out.
Starting this week (week 6 of the NLL season)we will be playing NLL
pick em. We will play from now until the last week of the regular
season. The person with the most correct picks will get an
autographed Brine Lacrosse ball, autographed by Regy Thorpe, Marshall
Abrams and 3 other players (signed at the MLL Summer showcase event
in Rochester.) I may throw in a couple of other neat prizes for the
winner if I can get ahold of something.Winner will also have their
name (or handle if you prefer) atop the main page for the entire
offseason as WINNER OF PICK 'EM 2004!
The rules are basically pretty simple. Send the picks for the weeks
games to my email address by 8pm THURSDAY NIGHTS! Any late entries
will be counted as void. My email address is brigadenut@...
So come on, folks! Take your chances and show the world YOUR
lacrosse knowledge!
Well, there might be a week off for the Knighthawks this week, but
that won't stop a couple of the guys from hanging out with the fans.
Wednesday night from 8:00pm to 9:30pm at the Sports Page on Monroe
Avenue near Goodman Street.
"Don't $$ck with" Buck Stobart and Jon "Oreck" Harasym will be there
signing autographs and popping some bevvies.
We might not have a game this week, but these guys have played an
intricate part in preparing the guys to get back to 2-2 this young
season. Harasym has turned out to be a loose ball sniper with 27
loosies in only 2 games. That leads the league right now with 13.5
per game.
Current and past players say that Rochester has some of the best fans
in the league, so come on out and show a couple of newbies exactly
how we got that rep.
RAVENS ACQUIRE CURT MALAWSKY
NLL
January 16, 2004
The Vancouver Ravens have acquired forward Curt Malawsky from the
Rochester Knighthawks in exchange for a conditional first round
selection in the 2005 or 2006 Entry Draft. The trade was completed
early on Friday morning.
In exchange for Malawsky, the Knighthawks will receive a conditional
first round selection in either 2005 or 2006 Entry Draft. The year of
the selection is contingent upon how many games Malawsky plays this
season. Malawsky is expected to be in the lineup for tonight's game
against Buffalo, which will be his first action of the 2003-2004
regular season.
Malawsky was drafted by the Knighthawks in the first round (second
overall selection) in the Western Canadian portion of the 1998 NLL
Entry Draft. In six seasons of play, Malawsky has established himself
as one of the game's premiere forwards. The British Columbia native
has averaged 22 goals and 25 assists per season. Malawsky has scored
153 career goals, and has recorded 159 career assists for a total of
312 career points heading into this season. These stats include 19
goals, and 10 assists for a total of 29 total points in post-season
play. Malawsky leaves Rochester as the fifth-leading scorer in
franchise history. The Malawsky name will still have a presence with
the Knighthawks. Derek Malawsky (brother of Curt) is second on the
Knighthawks roster in scoring with 14 points (5G, 9A) through three
games this season.
Be happy to--please reply offlist

disallowed, join the Krew at Bill Gray's for support of the
Knighthawks and Derek!
Derek will be making a special apperance on Face-Off which is taped
at Bill Gray's in Henrietta.
We'll be there about 6:00. Join us!
Sounds like I missed a barn burner...and am definitely PO'ed it ended
on an arena timekeepers decision! Of course he'll say it went in
late! He is partial!!! Anyways, the article.
By SAL MAIORANA
STAFF WRITER
(January 4, 2004) — BUFFALO — Paul Day has been involved in indoor
lacrosse as a player or a coach for approximately 30 years, and he'd
thought he'd seen just about everything. He was wrong.
Saturday night at HSBC Arena the Rochester Knighthawks appeared to
tie their game against Thruway rival Buffalo on a goal by Derek
Malawsky as the final horn sounded, and one of the referees raised
his arms to signify the goal.
However, after a three-minute discussion during which the National
Lacrosse League officials ultimately based their decision on the
testimony of the arena timekeeper, the goal was waved off and the
Bandits escaped with a head-shaking 12-11 victory.
"There's one second left and the referee closest to the crease makes
the call that it's a goal and the other referee who called it off
never made a motion," said an enraged Day, who came racing across the
field to confront crew chief Paul Ravary.
"He (Ravary) went to the timekeeper's box to get their opinion. Why
are we getting their opinion at all? I'm closer on my bench to the
net than they are."
In one of the wildest finishes in Knighthawks history, Buffalo had
possession of the ball with 6.5 seconds left. All goalie Steve
Dietrich had to do was throw the ball to the other end of the floor
and the Knighthawks would have been doomed.
Instead, Dietrich tried to make a pass and he threw it out of play,
giving Rochester possession deep in the Buffalo zone with one second
remaining.
On the re-start whistle John Grant fired the ball toward the net
hoping for a miracle and he got one — or so he thought — as Malawsky
slipped in from the back side and cleanly one-timed the pass past
Dietrich just as the horn sounded.
Instant replay is not used to determine the outcome of plays in the
NLL, but a replay shown in the press box showed the ball entering the
net before the green light, located in the goal judge's box behind
the net, came on. The green light automatically illuminates when the
clock reaches 0:00.
The red goal light, which is operated manually by a judge who presses
a button, did not come on because once the green comes on, the red
cannot be lit. However, given human reaction time, there's no way the
red could have come on in this situation.
Without the benefit of video replay, Ravary asked the timekeeper if
the green light came on before the ball went into the cage and when
he said yes, that apparently was good enough for Ravary.
"I've never actually seen a scorekeeper reverse it," said Day, still
fuming 20 minutes after the fact. "Hopefully our scorekeeper in
Rochester would reverse it for us. That's definitely not the
protocol, I'm almost positive of that. The guys on the floor have to
make the call.
"They said the green light came on, but I don't think the goal judge
would have time to put the red light on before the automatic green
because he has to make sure the ball's in the net. It's impossible.
"With video replay there's no problem, it's a goal, but there's no
video replay so I'm not sure how they called that back."
Lost in the bizarre finish is that Rochester didn't play particularly
well and fell to 0-2 for the third time in the last six seasons.
"We battled all night long, we got behind, got back into it, but we
had little things that broke down so we have to fix those," said
captain Mike Hasen.
"It's tough playing these guys four times, but that means we've got
three more cracks at them."
As they were in their season-opening 13-7 loss to Philadelphia the
Knighthawks were sluggish on offense, and their power play was a
gruesome 3-for-9.
"We were awful," Grant said of the power play.
"That's two games in a row the power play has just not come through."
After a 6-6 deadlock in the first half, Buffalo opened a 12-9 lead
early in the fourth quarter on rookie A.J. Shannon's third goal of
the second half.
The Knighthawks, scoreless for nearly 17 minutes, rallied to within
12-11 with 2:12 to go when Grant whistled in a pair of long shots
1:47 apart to set the stage for the conclusion.
"I've never seen some guy who works the time clock change the play of
the game," said Grant, who had two goals and five assists. "I'm
awestruck, to tell you the truth."
Does your heart race when the purple and teal take the field?
Can you barely stand it when Toolie stops shots like granite?
Then, what are you doing this Saturday night?
That's right, LIVE FROM BUFFALO, IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT !!
The Knighthawks Krew is bringing a united front of loud mouthed, fun
loving, lacrosse fanatics like the "Queen City" has never seen.
And we're not leaving until we're heavin' !!
