The Wings have a third jersey right? Are they the only team that has a permanent
one (seeing as the K'Hawks are auctioning them off there's little chance of them
wearing them again....)?
Yeah I really like the idea too. I really want
one, but I don't know how they are going to the
bidding or how high the bidding will be. The Grant jersey
would be awesome, but hey, I'll settle for anybody. I'm
kinda curious if the jerseys will be in good taste with
the whole green idea, what and see I guess, either
way, it should be awesome and we better win too so we
can get ready for Toronto. I would hate to have the
Rock win it all again, that would suck, anybody else
would be fine.
The third jersey idea is awesome. And to have
them auctioned off too is pretty cool. You could get a
jersey from a lesser known player for cheaper than the
stores sell them I bet. Not everybody can have John
Grant Jr.
The NLL had its annual Board of Governors meeting
on Monday March 12, 2001. The main headline of the
meetings were proposals for expansion. Formal application
have been submitted by groups in Vancouver and
Calgary. The Toronto Rock have also pushed for a franchise
in Montreal, but no formal application has come from
them. Right now there is a wait and see attitude with
the NLL making no public statement one way or the
other, but there really isn't any reason why the
applications should be dismissed.

My views on it are
that the expansion is great for the league as well as
the sport. But those of us in the Rochester area know
the fate of other small city teams when it comes to
expansion. For example the Rochester Royals, now known as
the Sacremento Kings. Expansion is great, but it
should be slow so the talent pool gets clipped in the
head. And, we should make sure that the fan base in
Rochester stays strong so that the Knighthawks will remain
in Rochester for years to come. Which, is kinda
depressing seeing the movement in this club as well as the
movement in the Knighthawks web boards. Very sad. Keep the
'hawks in Rochester and get your voices heard!

Well, only three games this weekend, none had any
real effect on the Knighthawks. The big game was
between Toronto and Philadelphia. Personally I was
pulling for the Wings, really getting annoyed with the
Rock. There was a big discussion over in the NLL club
about the freakin' Rock. The Rock are a very good team
and if the Knighthawks meet them in the playoffs,
it's anybody's game.

The big thing right now
for the Knighthawks is that they begin the playoff
stretch against some very tough teams, Washington,
Toronto, 2 against Buffalo, and Albany. We are going to
need huge games by everybody especially the big guys,
Grant, Malawsky, Bomberry, Soudan, and O'Toole. We as
fans need to be cheering our boys on to make sure they
aren't on the outside looking in come playoff time. I'm
looking forward to my one and only game of the season and
I hope all you Knighthawk fans will be cheering on
the Hawks as they play the second place Power, from
now on, all games are critical. Let's hear it for the
'Hawks!!
Hawks fans, you guys are bumming me out. I'm
going to the Power game on saturday and this is
seriously depressing here. We need some talking, some more
members, I'm calling on everybody to get off their duffs
and start posting. Show some team spirit, the K-hawks
are in danger of missing the playoffs, step it up!
Yeah, I love Grant, he's the man. I'm so glad
they got him, they went through a lot to get him in
the draft. He's definitely my favorite player. I've
met him twice and he's really nice and down to earth,
top notch guy all the way.
Yeah both the Headline Sports and CTV Sportsnet
coverage include during game interviews that do two big
things. One is hold up the game from time to time and the
other is give little breathers to the players. They do
them at the same time as the commercials are played so
it doesn't affect the flow of the game
much.

The game sure was physical and the reffing was awful
but the Rebs are a better team than their record. If
Derek Collins could've stopped more of the weak early
goals it would've been a lot closer. And the whole Pat
O'Toole scoring thing didn't help them any
either.

But you K'Hawk fans are lucky to get to see a player
like John Grant play all the time. He sure can pull
off some amazing stunts.
Everybody make sure you go to the power game, I
heard on the radio that the knighthawks will wear
special St. Patrick's Day jerseys that will be auctioned
off after the game. Lord, I hope it doesn't have any
green on it otherwise it will look butt ugly. Come
cheer on your 'hawks as they play the #1 Power!
Well, the knighthawks won, barely. "We didn't
play well at all," said John Grant who had 10 points
(4G, 6A). Cory Bomberry and Curt Malawsky also had
three goals each. Only one goal was scored in the third
goal making it 9-6 after three. The Rebel were hungry
for their first win and it showed. The Knighthawks
should have blown them out of the water, but the Rebel
held their own through out the whole game. The big
surprise of the night was Pat O'Toole scored the
Knighthawks' fifth goal, a shorthanded one. O'Toole also added
an assist.

I was forced to listen to it on
the radio, again, but from what i heard, the
officiating was craptacular. The K-Hawks' announcers were
astounded at how many penalties there were. Luckily
however, the penalties were evenly weighted between the
two teams. "Forget about expansion, forget about a
developmental league, forget about a national tv contract. What
the NLL needs to make it a national attraction is
consistent officiating," said one announcer.

Another
major drawback to the game was that apparently there
were interviews on the field of the players during the
TV timeouts. It got very annoying to the players i
would imagine since the game was on NBC or ABC or
something so the media was just bothering them during a
game, screwing up their concentration. "I HATE that
they're doing this!" this same announcer said.

All
in all, it was a crappy game. The knighthawks played
like crap and let the now 0-11 Rebel score into double
digits, something that the Rock and Landsharks were
unable to do the past two weeks. It true K-hawk fashion
their eventual collapse in the fourth quarter really
hurt their cause. If they play like this against the
Rebel, they better get their sh!t in gear to play the
power in two weeks. They can't afford to lose any game
from now on as they are grasping at Buffalo's
bootstraps.

Knighthawks are awesome, but they need some work, good thing
they have a week off.
The Knighthawks go into Kanata, Ontario tomorrow,
March 2. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m. The game will be
televised live on Headline Sports (?). The game will also
be broadcast live on WYSL 1040 AM (see links page).
Rochester, barring a freak of nature, should wallop the
Rebel as they finish their swing through the bottom of
the league before heading into the final stretch
against playoff bound teams. Not much to the game, I
don't know which goalie will start, i think chugger
should get the nod, keep his confidence rolling, but
make sure o'toole gets some PT before the big game
against the power, which i will be at ;)
It's awfully quiet, we need to get some of you
visitors to sign up ao we can have some meaningful
discussionss about the 'Hawks! Forget about the 'Hawks web
boards, you got 50 people talking on 30 different topics,
it's a pain. Plus here you can get pics and links and
stuff!
Well, the landsharks played in true expansion
form. The game was pretty much over at halftime. Next
week they play the lowly Rebel so that should be a
pretty easy game before they finish the season against
the top teams in the league.

Chugger was in
goal this time, probably to help boost his confidence,
which worked because he got his first win since 1998! I
hadn't realized it had been that long. It will be
interesting to see what goalie will be in when they start
playing the power, bandits, and rock and the end. I say
O'Toole, but have chugger ready at ALL times just in case.

Grant (my fav) only had 4 points (2G, 2A), which kinda
sucked, but he was playing for the win, trying to give
the ball to other people. I'm sure he could have
scored a buttload if he really wanted to, which he
better on March 17!

Unfortunately I had to listen
to the game on the Net in my lowly dorm room, but it
sounded pretty cool. The attendance figure was well over
8,000 fans, hopefully ALL were screaming pretty
loud!

Go K-Hawks!!
Yeah the Power had some really low attendance
figures for the beginning of the season. Hopefully next
year will mean I can finally take in a game live if
they do in fact come to Edmonton or even Calgary like
the last rumour said.
Good site, thanks. I thought it was very
comprehensive with great video quality. Was it me or did it
seem on some of the videos that there were a few
seats, or rather SECTIONS!, that were empty? There were
more people at the knighthawks preseason game than at
that week 2 game. The Power's attendance has been
increasing so hopefully it's not like that any more.
Yeah, I wish I could have been there to see it,
instead I'm stuck in the middle-of-nowhere, PA. I can't
wait for the Power game on 3/17 cuz i'll be there.
It's good that they beat a good team, they need to
beat the Power-Wings-Rock-Bandits to try and get into
the playoffs. But, you're right if O'Toole plays like
that for a while, they'll be unstoppable.
Lyndhurst, NJ….The National Lacrosse League
announced that Rochester Knighthawks goaltender Pat O'Toole
has been named the NLL Player of the Week for games
played from February 16th-18th.

O'Toole allowed
only 7 goals and stopped 52 shots to lift his team to
a 12-7 victory over the rival Toronto Rock on
Saturday night.

O'Toole, the 6-0, 215-pound
netminder from East York, Ontario allowed only one even
strength goal the entire game, and shut out the Rock for
29:41 from the first to third quarters. O' Toole
stopped 30 of Toronto's 32 shots in the first half.
ROCHESTER, NY---The phrase "There's no place like
home" has been the best way to describe the heated
Rochester Knighthawks -Toronto Rock rivalry.

In the
three years since the Rock joined the league, no
visiting team has ever won in the series, and on Saturday
night, the Knighthawks continued the tradition with a
12-7 victory over the Rock in front of 9,631 at the
Blue Cross Arena.

The Knighthawks jumped out
to an early 4-2 first quarter lead as Jason Crosbie,
John Grant and Casey Zaph each scored in the first
1:37 of the game. The early barrage sent the NLL's top
netminder, Bob Watson to the bench after allowing 4 goals on
five shots.

The second quarter saw both squads
trade quality scoring chances. Crosbie scored his
second of the game and the only tally of the period to
give Rochester a 5-2 halftime lead.

The second
half started as the game began with the K'hawks
scoring two quick goals from Grant and Cory Bomberry.
With that, the Knighthawks saw themselves with a 9-3
lead entering the final frame.

The Rock
crawled back, as Kaleb Toth and Steve Toll scored two
straight goals to cut the Rochester lead to five. Toronto
could not get any closer as K'Hawk goaltender Pat
O'Toole shut down the Rock attack. O' Toole, the game MVP
finished the game with 52 saves.

Crosbie ended the
game with a career-high three goals and one assist.
Grant also finished with three goals and one assist.
Forward Brad MacArthur also added three assists for
Rochester.

The Rock were led by Toth, who collected five points
on two goals and three assists (2+3=5) Forward Kim
Squire scored two goals and picked up two assists.
Rookie Anthony Cosmo made 32 saves in goal for Toronto.

The Rock came into Rochester with an 0-3 all-time
record at the Blue Cross Arena. The Knighthawks closed
the doors last season at Maple Leaf Gardens after
their second-straight loss in the NLL Championship and
an 0-4 overall record at the historic
venue.

<a

Well, the k-hawks dropped another one to the friggin' wings. There's still in
good shape though and a couple key guys had good games. I guess we will have to
kick some butt next week.
The Knighthawks look to avenge their week 2 17-16
loss to the Wings tonight. They should do it if
everybody plays on the ball. Grant, who is my early pick
for MVP, should have a good game. The Knighthawks
play good on the Penalty Kill as well as the Power
Play so it should be a good game. It should also be a
very physical game too. P.S. Welcome to the first
member!
