(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawk forwards Derek Malawsky and John Grant
have had a busy offseason. Following a 13-win regular season for Rochester and a
berth in the National Lacrosse League Semifinals, the two joined their Western
Lacrosse Association teams. Midway through the summer the players traveled to
Australia to play for Team Canada in the World Championships. The K-Hawks
captured silver medals at the field lacrosse tournament in early July. After the
event, both players returned to their WLA teams. And despite the two weeks off
from the Canadian box league, Malawsky and Grant are both ranked in the Top 20
in points. Malawsky is seventh on the list with 61 points (16+45) in 12 games
for the Victoria Shamrocks. Grant, a member of the Coquitlam Adanacs, has 54
points (34+20) in 12 games, placing him 15th overall.
