It promises to be fun. If Ulrich turns up for a few stages of the
Giro, and Basso is serious about winning the thing it will be a
fascianting field.
I think the truth of whether Basso can do both is around how deep he
has to dig to win the Giro. There are riders out there who I think
could trouble him if they are prepared to go for it. If he is forced
to really fight for the Giro victory then......
Big Jan will be there (if he shows up) for a work out and there will
be no pressure on him to do anything.
To do well in the GC you need a great team, that counts against the
likes of Valverde, Vino and Cunego. You need to be able to time
trial, again no much good for Cunego, nor Rassmusen (lol). You need
to able to climb therefore no point for the big sprinter teams like
Quick Step, Milram and Davitamon.
So who can climb and time trial, who has a decent team focused of the
GC- T Mobile? CSC? Phonak? Gerolstiener? Discovery????
Its all so exiting I could...........
