Re: National HC - result
Theres some fairly dark and dismal roads on my route to work so I
bought a set of those Smart twin halogen Jobbies - 2.4W on one and 10W
on the other but you can get 2x20W and brighter! I think both lamps
are 2.5 hours charge, which cover my round trip of 37 miles OK but I
only have the 10W lamp on roads that are pitch black so it lasts far
longer. Luckily for me a lot of my ride, mainly the Edinburgh side of
the bridge, is on paths and off road. Actually met a fellow bikie on
the bridge itself, going the same way as me this morning, I didnt know
him from adam but he proceeded to tell me about how pleased he was
that he'd turned 2nd cat and did a 22'01 for a '10' in his first
season and he'd placed 2nd in a TLI race etc etc. I could have
mentioned that I'd raced more Premier Calendars than he'd done races
all year but I let him talk away....he then suggested I leave GS Metro
and joined Sandy Wallace cycles for next year - he was bold if nowt
else!!! :-D
Anyway...you shouldnt really need lights round Sellafield as the faint
green glow from the place and its workforce should suffice,no?
On another note, I was down in Cockermouth on the weekend of 24th.
Damian and myself were riding the Nick O'Pendle Hill Climb on the
sunday down lancs (see main group photo) and we went for a potter on
the Saturday. Its been ages since I'd ridden round the lakes and it
had been a while since either of us had went training in company
either. We went out towards Newlands Pass (scene of 1993 National HC
champs) then down through the valley and back over Whinlatter pass -
Damians Favourite lakeland pass. It was a canny good ride and the
Autumn colours in the Lakes was superb. You's are very lucky living in
such an area ;-)
