Phew! I survived! Took me 5 hours to get round today. I was feeling
a bit hungry all the way round which wasnt a good thing as i blitzed
through all my food quite quickly. The first of my 550m climbs wasnt
as good as i expected. It was steep at the bottom through the trees
at about 14-16% but the rest of the climb wasnt up to much. The
other side seemed better though so that be my next big 'mission'
On to Kenmore. I hit the climb a bit fatigued and with 60
miles/100km in my legs and then the climb hit me!!! Mother of Mercy!
I have not rode up a climb that hard for a longggg time. It was as
savage as i thought. there is one stretch which must be 20% but
straight up - no corners to ease through. The only other climb that
rates higher in my mind that this for severity is La BAstille in
Grenoble - and THAT hill will take some beating.
So I struggled home the last 25 miles with no food or water and
tired. You should have seen the smile on my face when i remembered I
still had a plum left! lol
Then back into Crieff again after 84miles/135km only to be chased by
a demented old bus driver who was pissed off cos i overtook him
while he was waiting for a bus approaching him to pass. He was
honing his horn and driving past me an braking with hazard lights
on. He even pulled alongside with his doors open to argue with me.
The best thing was - he had the audacity to say that I that shouldnt
be on the road!!! Crazy
Maybe overcooked things for sunday now though. Will need plenty of
rest now - as If Im gonna get that!
take care guys - and watch out for those bus drivers!!!
Micky
