Funny you should mention Berzin,
A danish cycling website is currently doing a countdown of the 25
best riders in the last 10 years. There is much debate about the
list so far, and most people disagree with the writer.
The Giro took an interesting turn today. Cunego might be a bit young
to maintain the pressure of the maglia rosa all the way to Milan -
and who knows, maybe Simoni still is the Saeco rider to beat. Only
time will tell.
If anything, Popovych showed weakness today compared to his direct
rivals - and Garzelli has been disappointing so far. On the other
hand McGee and Gonchar have lasted longer than I had expected.
Still, with the toughest stages remaining, it's still hard to see a
clear favourite.
As for the list I mentioned - here it is:
No. 3: Miguel Indurain
No. 4: Jan Ullrich
No. 5: Lance Armstrong
No. 6: Erik Zabel
No. 7: Michele Bartoli
No. 8: Alex Zülle
No. 9: Michael Boogerd
No. 10: Tony Rominger
No. 11: Marco Pantani
No. 12: Abraham Olano
No. 13: Mario Cipollini
No. 14: Bjarne Riis
No. 15: Pavel Tonkov
No. 16: Richard Virenque
No. 17: Fernando Escartin
No. 18: Andrea Tafi
No. 19: Alexandre Vinokourov
No. 20: Frank Vandenbroucke
No. 21: Andrei Tchmil
No. 22: Eugeni Berzin
No. 23: Peter Van Petegem
No. 24: Alessandro Petacchi
No. 25: Paolo Bettini
The general opinion is that Berzin shouldn't be in this list of
riders
