What a ride by Britain's Roger Hammond to snatch 3rd in the greatest
classic of them all :-) Magnus Backsted of Sweden produced a fine
sprint for a deserved win for one the biggest engines in the bunch.
It was a pity that the Eurosport coverage let us down again... After
not showing Ghent-Wevelgem on wednesday, in which Hammond was 6th,
they stopped live coverage at 2pm to show football. All well and
good, but then they cut the race badly. It was 25km to go at Cysoing
then when they returned from adverts it went to 6km to go. We had
missed the break of 4 which, according to cyclingnews, was 5 inc
Museeuw but he punctured - not worth showing that,eh? It also missed
out the section of cobbles where it all happened and my personal
fave - Carrefour l'arbre.
Well done Roger though - best brit yet at Roubaix.
Is it true thar Magnus has a UK licence also, due the fact he spends
a lot of time here????
