I read somewhere that Riis would suggest to Jean-Marie Leblanc,
organiser of the Tour de France, that riders were allowed to climb
the mountains w/o helmets but a neutral service car should supply
the riders with helmets for the descents and flat roads. I think
this is a great idea and hopefully all riders can agree to this
compromise.

On a side note, Kivilev and Vinokourov were not teammates - only
compatriots.

Are the pro riders going to finally embrace helmets as important now? If so, at least Kiv's death will not be a total waste. Riding no hands, fixing his team...

Is that how he dicrashed?by riding no handed nad fiddling in hos pockets? Still a big shame though.... As for the helmets on mountains I think its a good idea....

I came off in a race last year, while going *uphill*. Another rider in the same four-man break snagged by handlebars, and I went backwards off the bike,...
