What special role does the Trikke play in an exercise program? Obviously,
Trikking around the neighborhood can be fun. People feel motivated to do
enjoyable exercise. But there's more to it than that.
For the last several years, strength training for the legs has been the mainstay
of my exercise routine. And up until three years ago, when I felt the need for
some aerobic exercise, I'd simply go out for a walk.
That changed when I had a rheumatoid arthritis attack in my hip. After that,
brisk walking put to much stress on that joint. Ditto for bicycle-riding. So I
ordered a T8 Air, and that turned out to be just what I needed. My Trikke
allowed me to be aerobically active during that difficult time in my life.
Lately I've been in remission, and the hip joint is slowly repairing itself. I
even feel comfortable going on short hikes.
Swimming doesn't put much stress on the knees, and is the best-known low-impact
exercise. But it's not something you want to do if you have an arthritic hip.
For me, the Trikke really stands out as a low-impact aerobic exercise machine.
