I've kind of been going through the same thing with Fits.  My friend MaryAnne left our barn for another one and when Aero left, Fits sure did look so sad.  He doesn't really like anyone else. Although he has started making friends over a fence with another gelding at our barn.  The other day I found them grooming each other over the fence.  Fits won't ever be able to be turned out with the other as Bandit has his own paddock and is turned out with a mare that he is very protective of and he gets kinda crazy when they get seperated.
 
I'm glad Buffy has her friend back.

Wow, she sounds like a great kid.  I remember when her parents made her give Dannie up...  so sad...  I'm glad Dannie and Buffy can be together and that Chelsie can visit and ride.
 
McKinna is out in a pasture now with about 7 other mares, including Brianna's new appendix, Pandora.  It's a great situation and everyone gets along fine, but she doesn't have any "friends".  When we had Bailey, the two of them were inseperable.  I kind of miss that.  I understand just what you mean when you say you like Buffy to have a friend.

Initially it was hard for her to visit but she's been able to go and visit every few months and it's gotten a lot easier now (over a year later).  She bought her a new halter with some of her birthday money (she just turned 16) and brought it with her today. Dannie was her first horse, so I'm sure she will always be extra special to the kid.  She is allowed to come visit any time and to ride her so we will meet up on Thursday and try to get in a ride. 
 
Buffy is very happy to be back with Dannie.  Those two went through a lot together over the past 5 years and are really best friends.  Buffy really didn't care for the other 3 she was left with in her old pasture after Dannie left.  She got along with them - she was the boss - but she never really bonded with any of them.  I like her to have a friend.
