Hans is from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He road the OATBRAN (One Awsome Bike
Tour Across Nevada) with my father this year on a rented bike from a place in
Truckee.
Hans is coming back next year to do it again but would like to buy a used bike.
He rides a 58cm and would prefer a triple. His budget is $500-$600 (yeah I
know).
If anyone has a lead, let me know. (741-3603).
He will likely come with a supply of excellent cheese as a bonus.
Snapped my hanger tonight... need a new one. Any of you guys have one? I'll pay
big bucks for it. I need it hopefully by tomorrow morning 11-14 at 9am to do SST
work. Thanks much

Yes it is I, Chris Payne who has developed
this Ride calendar to steel your e-mail. To bad I already had it.
The reason I didn’t put my name all over the calendar is I want it to be
a public resource, not my personal ride web-site.
Secondly you are asked to give an e-mail
address so the calendar can e-mail you when new events are posted. I am
the only one who can see the e-mail address. The calendar does not show
me your pass word; if you forget it I have the ability to send you an e-mail to
reset it. Your e-mail address is not being sold or anything like
that.
And yes Matt there are several of these
calendars in Vegas, all set up by the person who helped me set this one
up. I lived in Vegas for the last 16 months and met a lot of people using
these calendars. My wife and I thought it would be a nice thing to have
here in Reno
also.

I don't understand what all the secret identity crap
is all about on who is
posting this thing. My guess it is Chris Payne who used to race for UNR and
the Wheelmen. It would be nice to feel secure on who you are giving your
e-mail address too? Nice concept though.

This e-mail is being sent to inform you about www.RenoRidez.com. RenoRidez is a calendar where rides, runs, tri training, etc. can be posted. Anyone can post a ride, and once a ride is posted others can sign up for the ride. Comments and photos of the event can also be posted to the calendar.
The main goal of setting this calendar up is to bring people together to train. A wise old cyclist told me early on “You only get stronger training with stronger cyclist!” This is true for any sport, and training with a group is much more enjoyable than training alone. I used a similar calendar when I moved to Vegas, and was able to meet up with a ton of nice like minded people. I hope the same will happen here in Reno.

If anyone has any photos from any cross races, this year or older that they would like to share via Flickr please let me know. I would like to load the flickr account with as many photos as possible.
It really easy to do from a computer or if you have a CD I can do it as well.
www.renocx.com is up, though as you will see has no content yet. I made this website on the recommendation of Rich Maile the promoter of the Sac Series. He said he had a hard time finding the info for our series and that a website would make it much easier.
FYI: www.sacramentocx.com (check out their sweet video from the college cyclery race. that's me sans sleeves)

I am posting a weekly ride for Wednesdays at 1:30, meeting at Lakeside Market.
We will cater the rides to the crowd that shows up, but we hope it to be
endurance based with some intensity training mixed in. Ride times may vary, but
the idea is to ride for 2+ hours. Ride is weather permitting. All are welcome.
I have two stems available for barter -- a 135mm, 31.7, 6D Deda Newton 31 road
stem and a 110mm 31.7 3D Planet X mountain stem. I would like to barter them for
90mm stems of comparable value.
Well, John, you got most of it right. I’ll
be leaving from DRI at noon and meeting the group on Las Brisas.

Anybody interested in a regular Tuesday midday hill
repeat workout? We will meet at the Cheeseboard parking lot at noon sharp (the
time not the cheese) starting tomorrow and continuing through the
winter/spring. First work outs will be low intensity adaptation to prep
ourselves for later suffering. Hope to see you there (or out on Las Brisas).
Jenny says she will build a frame for anybody who makes all Tuesdays (did I get
that right J?).

Elections for the Reno Wheelmen Board of Directors will be held at the next club meeting on November 2 (6:00 p.m., Walden's Coffee).
There are 7 seats on the Board, all of which are up for election. The BOD decides how the club spends its money, which events and races we promote, which community projects we pursue (velodrome, bike lane advocacy, etc.), which sponsors we approach and accept, what the new club clothing will look like (for 2011), and dozens of other things that come up that affect the club.
Even with all that, though, it isn't a huge time committment. Boardies are expected to attend the club meetings (1st Monday of every month) and contribute to the direction and operation of the club. In return, serving on the Board fulfills your "service to the club" requirement (for race reimbursement purposes) and also gains you free entry into all Reno Wheelmen-promoted Twilight events (road and MTB).
As of today, there are only three declared candidates for the Board:
Spencer Ericksen
Bill Cline
Patrick Roe
So if you are interested in getting more involved with the club, now is the ideal time. Email me if you are interested, and I will add your name to the list of candidates. You don't necessarily need to be at the meeting this Monday (late notice and all), but you should be available for the monthly meetings going forward.
If there are more than 7 candidates by Monday's meeting, we will hold a vote by secret ballot of all members present to narrow the field to 7. This slate will then be presented to all club members via email for approval or rejection (though it takes a majority of all active members, not just ballots cast, to reject a candidate). At the December meeting, assuming all candidates are approved, the new Board will be seated and will then select the club officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer). The President and VP need to be Board members, but the Secretary and Treasurer do not.
Simple, right?
Please let me know by noon next Monday (11/2) if you would like to run for the Board.
