WORKSHOPS:
6:30-7:15 BALBOA w/Paolo &
Lauren (Prerequisite: none... open to all). $15 (Prepaid $13. Plus
dance $25)
1930s Balboa is danced close to your partner
with smooth, tight footwork. Using minimal energy and space, it's
ideal for fast tempos and crowded dance floors. It is also very
adaptable and can be performed to slow music as well. Practical &
fun, it has become an exceptionally popular style with Lindy Hop &
Swing dancers. In this workshop we'll cover all the basics necessary
to get your Balboa in motion, including the Single (Down Hold), The
Double, Turns, The Come Around and Pop Turn.
6:45-7:15 Swing / Lindy CHARLESTONS: Basic
Kick w/Kristine (Prereq.: none... open to all) $10 (Prepaid plus
dance $22)
Lindy Hop (and Swing) was heavily influenced
by it's predecessor, the 1920s Charleston, and naturally incorporated
the famous Charleston kicks into it's own lindy style. Learn the basic
kick step for both lead & follow and balance.
7:15-8:15 Swing / Lindy CHARLESTONS:
Creative Transitions and New Variations w/Paolo & Lauren
(Prereq: solid Swing & Charleston kick basics). $18 (Prepaid $16.
Plus dance $25) Add variety to your Swing / Lindy with unique and
creative transitions into and out of the Charleston. Plus, learn some
Charleston variations you've never seen before. Good balance and
strong connection will be emphasized.
8:15-9:00 Swing / Lindy CHARLESTONS
Explosion w/Paolo & Lauren (Prereq: solid Swing &
Charleston basics). $15 (Prepaid $13. Plus dance $25) In this workshop
we will further study the Charleston and focus on dynamic transitions
from diagonals to shadowing patterns. In this class you'll discover
progressions that help you continue to add to your Charleston
patterns.
DANCE PARTY:
8:30-12:00 includes complimentary 8:40
Swing Basics lesson, light food & refreshments, and 9:00 DJ'd
dancing on a huge wood dance floor. $15 (Only $12 if student under 26
w/ID or if prepaid w/workshops). Discount
admission for
U.S. Vets, and anyone fully decked out in '40s vintage
outfits, hair & make-up OR in
formal military dress (any
