Hey Everybody,
A Few weeks ago Lance, Rod and I went up to help Ray Allison's wife
clear out the bike stuff left over after Ray passed away. He had quite a
bit of stuff, some good, some to recycle, and a few that are looking
for a new home. I will be bringing some parts and a few of the tools
that he had made to the next Meeting and we will put names in a hat of
all interested parties and let someone else use them to build more
bikes. There is a fork raking tool and a full frame jig, a really sweet
stem and handlebar arrangement and some forks, etc. Show up for a chance
to take home a bit of Ray's expertise!
Mike, I will bring a sheet of ABS for you. Give me a call if you can't
make it tomorrow and I will drop it off at your house later in the week.
Check out the new MnHPVA webpage at www.eclecticbike.com, still needs a
little work but I will be putting up a link to it from the old page and
it should be stable for now. I still need to work on individual parts of
it but the basics are working. Now I just need time to work it out. Feel
free to sign up and to start putting in what you want, or start a blog,
or participate in the forums when you have been accepted. Right now I am
getting the pic galleries and the calendar working. I will also be
looking for feedback on what works, what doesn't and what else we can do
to make it better.
   See you at the Meeting!
Dave K.

placed as a memorial to the victims. For more info on Ghost Bikes please
visit http://www.ghostbikempls.org .

Family, friends and cyclists are invited to participate in this group ride.

with orange ribbon around their arm or handlebars. Ribbon will be provided
for those who need it.

Hi Lonny,
I prefer underseat steering. I have it on HP Velotechniks, and a Haluzak.
I like the view, the handling, the arm position. I also like the bikes.
Do you have more specific questions?
Bill.

I built a recumbent a couple of years ago and refined it since then. I
have now sort of lost interest and want to give someone else an
opportunity to own this unusual human-powered machine. It is built for
someone about 6'2" with approximately a 33" inseam. If you are more or
less than those measurements it will have to be modified (by you) to
fit. I have it listed on Craigslist for $275 or $375 with the rear rack
and saddlebags for commuting. If you would like to take a look at it in
person, please send me an email thru recumbentsmn or via Craigslist and
I'll respond as soon as possible. Ad located at:
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/bik/769731177.html

If you're a recumbentsmn member and mention seeing this, I'll include
some spare parts as well.

Thanks for looking.

We're looking for more interesting bikes for display at the show.
We've got commitment from a few people with bikes ranging from
balloon tires, Schwinn Stingray's, a chopper that runs a Corvette
rear tire, Swing-Bikes of a few varieties, and more. I know that
there are a few people in the group that have done some interesting
things, bring them up and show them. (icebikes, trikes, other?)

The local event consists of craft and food vendors in the park and
down town area, a car show at the Ford dealership, music and
entertainment, a bike show, and of course, pie!

Here's the somewhat official ad for it...

2nd annual Pie Cycle Show, part of the Braham Pie Day celebration, a
yearly celebration held the first Friday in August. Friday August
1st 2008 - 10AM to 5PM. Bring any type of bicycle to show, also
tricycles and pedal cars welcome!! (no trophies) Braham is 10 miles
north of Cambridge just off HWY 65 on HWY 107. http://www.pieday.com

There's a basic map and our card posted in the group files section

First the kids at St. Thomas Academy have done it again. Under the

Safer Electric Motorcycle with rider protection from crashes and

team from around the country / world.

Second, Edina Bike's delivery vehicle a ZAP Xebra Xero (solar powered
pick up truck, licensed as a motorcycle) has been supercharged. They
added a 7th, 12 volt, 140 amp hour battery to the motor circuit
increasing the voltage from 72 volts to 84 volts. This has increase the
top speed and range by about 15%. To avoid issues with the charging
system / electrical control system, a separate waterproof battery
charger was added to recharge the extra battery. It drives like an
entirely different vehicle, visit Edina Bike and give it a test ride.
This is only recommended for ZAP vehicles out of warranty for this
enhancement voids any existing warranty.

We've been thinking about riding there, but we can't get started as
early as we would need to. We have plenty of time to ride home from
the rally, but only a couple of days to get there.

I've been looking at Highway 10, which does seem to go across fairly
directly to Stevens Point. There are some routes parallel to it that
look okay, too. I've heard that it may be very hilly, though.

Listed below is the invitation to the Midwest Recumbent Rally at the
Hostel Shoppe in Steven's Point, WI.

I am considering leading a group on a ride from Twin Cities to the event
on my new Volae Team ES..

Some considerations.

1, Is anyone interested in a 2 to 3 or 4 day ride of about 200 miles?
2. Any one interested in combining a car / van drive with a bike rides
to the same destination?
3, Does anyone know a good route which will minimize the major highways,
but not significantly increase the mileage?
4. Is anyone driving to the event and have room to bring some rider
back to the Twin Cities?
5. Anyone driving to the event, have room in their can and would
consider car pool and gas sharing?
