Bicycle path construction work is underway for
the 2009 season in the following areas:
Midtown Greenway – Trail maintenance work will
begin on the Midtown Greenway between France and
Hiawatha Avenues next Tuesday, July
14th. Minneapolis Public Works crews will be
filling cracks on the asphalt path to extend the
life of the trail, and to make a smoother riding
surface. The Greenway will remain open; with
work being done on half of the width of the path
at a time. Please travel slowly in areas where
crews are working, as the trail will be
narrowed. Weather permitting work is anticipated
to last through next Friday, July 17th.
West River Parkway – A complete reconstruction of
the West River Parkway pathways between Frankin
Avenue and Godfrey Parkway will begin next
Monday, July 13th. This Minneapolis Park &
Recreation Board project will take place in two
phases. The first phase will occur between Lake
Street and Godfrey Parkway, and is expected to
last four to six weeks. The second phase will
occur between Franklin Avenue and Lake Street;
this work will begin after the first phase is
complete. Bicycle paths will be closed during
construction. For more information, please visit

Luce Line Trail – The missing link in the Luce
Line Trail is now open for bicycling. In
Minneapolis, the new section begins at Theodore
Wirth Parkway, between Olson Memorial Highway and
Plymouth Avenue. Heading west, the Luce Line
Trail goes through Golden Valley and other
western suburbs to Hutchinson. Heading east, the
Luce Line Trail follows old Bassett’s Creek Trail
to the Cedar Lake Trail and Downtown
Minneapolis. Use caution on the trail as crews
finish minor construction items. For more
