Dennis,
I am not sure this is the right venue to highlight philanthropic efforts
of people and companies, but since you opened the door with MMRB, I will
continue the thread until the group voices their opinion.
Edina Bike & Sport in conjunction The Edina Morningside Rotary, Urban
Ventures, Collin Powell Leadership Center, Jesuit High School and 29
Facets, collects used bikes, mostly from Edina residents, repairs them
and donates them in a program like MMRB. While these efforts are not
promoted with a dedicated web site, in 2008 over 200 bikes were
distributed to people in need.
If you have a bike which is in good working order that could be used by
someone in need, you can drop it off at Edina Bike or contact me to make
arrangements for a pick up.
If anyone in the MNHPVA Groups knows of someone in need of a bike, drop
me an email with some details about the users size and we can do our
best to match them up.
While the staff at Edina Bike collects and repair these bikes, they are
not directly involved in the distribution of these bikes, so please
direct you inquiries to me.
