Thanks for the link. The Bell Museum event sounds like fun.
There's another interesting event coming up. On June 30 and July 1
"Bike-On" and the Midtown Global Market are hosting "Global Bike
Days." Bike-On is a young organization that promotes cycling in the
city, including among groups that don't have a cycling background.
They want to teach immigrants and poor kids to bike and promote the
use of bikes for health and fun. They have fielded questions from
non-cyclists who wonder whether they could just start with a three-
wheeler, and they are facing the problems of poor acceptability of
standard bikes for some groups.
We talked to one of their folks, who said they want some interesting
bikes at their event and who seemed taken with the idea of displaying
a few trikes and other recumbents. I've been unable to get free in
the evenings lately, and I won't be able to go to their meeting today
(Thursday), so I don't have any details.
Members who might want to bring a recumbent to display at this event
should look at the website: http://www.globalbikedays.org/ -- or
consider stopping in at the meeting at the Midtown Global Market this
Thursday or some other week.
