Sorry, I will be in Kona from the 18th thru the 30th. Enjoying the Big Island

Hello Fun Riders! It was a great day for climbing, and lots of climbing we did. It was a great day for chili at MOMS , and lots of chili we ate. The North County Cycling Crew were fun riders and a pleasure to ride with. Thanks to Jeff 2 for coming up with the idea of a mutual ride. They were kind of amused and mystified with all our club's nick names but got used to it after awhile..I think. There was a little drizzle on the windshields coming up 78 but not a drop during the ride and we actually had some sun break through in places. It was a little brisk coming down the East Grade but nothing compared to last Saturday coming down from Ranchita. Here are the pics... http://www.flickr.com/photos/rideczar/sets/72157622673393129/show/ Next week is Friday Lite. I should get my PC back this week to make a proper schedule...shame on me! -Sam Powell Ramona Fun Riders Ride Czar

Enjoyed Palomar with you guys!
It was a really good ride today. Thanks, Wes, for getting it together. Sweated
on the way up, froze on the way down. Sorry we missed the Mother's chili, but
Scott and I had to get back home in the early afternoon. Hope to do it again
someday soon...

It was pretty cold at the top after coming out of Mother’s Kitchen and
heading down east grade. I’m going to pack my glove liners next
time because my fingers just about froze off going down. And fortunately
the temps warmed up as we dropped in altitude.
The Ramona Fun Riders were a nice bunch. Sam has already posted
here:
Looking forward to it. I will be bringing a
friend along as well. Hope the weather behaves...

Fellow
OFRs... The Ramona Fun Riders plan to join us for the Palomar ascent on Friday. As many of you know from riding with them, they are a great crew, and they've
been up this nasty little hill more than a few times. Should be a
blast!
Plan is to depart from the Lake Henshaw cafe per Troy's route at 9:00. Sam
Powell of the RFR recommends bringing cold weather gear, as it looks to be cold
at the top.

I've ridden with the club in the past (while as a partner of Burley Design Cooperative many years ago - on a business road trip); also 'worked' with Kirk's bike shop in town. I now own a bicycle touring business, and we're trying to get the word out about a couple of tours coming up that might be of particular interest to club members - especially for those wanting to beat the winter blues:
California Dreaming Holiday tour (Dec. 26-31)
Maui Triple Challenge Tour (Feb. 2010)
Amgen Tour of California (May 2010)
We do offer some nice club/group discounts for any of our tours, by the way.
Steve and Ironman Al rode up from Harrahs and enjoyed lunch at Mom's Kitchen before freezing their butts off on the descent...
