Ride for Friday Feb 16 - Banner Loop - Mesa Grande Twist - Santa Ys   Message List

Hello Fun Riders!

What a weekend!
I tagged along with my wife Sherry to a Postal Seminar up in Ventura and brought my bike. It was supposed to rain both Saturday and Sunday. Did I get lucky! Saturday was overcast but dry and Sunday morning drizzled a little but cleared to a beautiful sunny day. I rode with a local club (Channel Island Bike Club) on their Saturday and Sunday ride. They were a perfect group to hook up with for me. No Hammerheads and no Freds (except for me) .  Just good people out for a great ride. Kind of reminded me of the Ramona Fun Riders! : )
The first day we went inland on a 40 mile loop from Camarillo and through a bunch of rolling hills and such. No great shakes and I admit to being a little disappointed. The second day they took me up the coast to Carpenteria and then for an inland loop. WOW. I must admit it is a bikers paradise up there. You can ride for miles and miles right on the coast and then pull off on a side road and immediately into the trees.
Here are some pics.....

Anyhow if you are ever up in Ventura and want to go on some wonderful rides go to the Channel Island Bike Club site. They ride every Saturday and Sunday. You'll be glad you did!

Now.........

This weeks ride... because we have a couple of visiting people who want to see the back country at its best..
I'm thinkin' the Banner Loop with a Mesa Grande Twist. This ride will include two of my favorite roads - Wynola Rd and Mesa Grande Rd. as well as 3 different and distinct back country terrains. Also instead of doing the increasingly dangerous rt. 79 we will bypass part of it by doing Mesa Grande Rd. (hear that Cathy?)

If you want to carpool, let me know and we'll meet at Kirk's Bike Shop in Ramona at 8:20.

Are you in???????????????
