Hey James,

I'd like to join you guys on the last skate before you two take off for Florida. However, I just had major knee surgery on April 23rd and I'm on crutches for 6 weeks. You guys go skate a couple rounds for me for old time sake! Take care and good luck in Florida.

Just a reminder that Skatenight is this Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Playland Skating Center located at 8822 MCCANN, AUSTIN, TEXAS 78757.  Skatenight will be  from 7-1030pm.  For Rink info call 512-452-1901.  Roller blades are welcomed and it cost $7 to skate.  They take cash, visa, or mastercard.

Hopefully we have a good turnout.  I would like to see and say goodbye to many of you.  Remember, there will be no charity due to the rink already hosting Adult Night every Tuesday.

Hope all is well and hope you can make it....

Rainbow Rollerskaters,

Rainbow Skatenight has been cancelled till further notice due to the skating rink closing down.  I cannot give you many answers, because I am still not 100 pecent sure what is going on yet myself.  I was just as shocked on Skatenight as everyone else.

The only info I have to give you at this time is Skateworld Northwest closed its doors three weeks ago and did not tell anyone!!!  The note on the door says they may open in a new location at the end of the summer.  I am trying to get more info from the owners.

As for will Skatenight continue..........  I will be looking for a new venue and will do my best to keep this event alive.  It just kind of stinks that things were finally starting to make progress.  Rainbow Skatenight was able to raise 43% more in the first four months of 2007 than in the first four months of 2006.  That's pretty incredible.  I was looking forward to the summer months because that is usually when the most skaters came out.

If you have any suggestions, please e-mail me at jsvetlik2003@...

You can also watch our website for updates at  http://www.main.org/rainbowskate/ .

Hope to be Skating with you soon!!

GREAT NEWS!!!!  Skatenight has been doing so well, I was able to renegotiate the amount of money given to my designated Charity every month.  The more people that come the more money raised!!!  I'm so excited and happy we could do this for our charities. Thanks to everyone for spreading the word and for coming out to enjoy Skatenight!!!  It's for a great cause and really helps out our charities.

Last month's charity was for Out Youth.  I'm not sure how much money we raised because I was out of town on vacation.  I will collect the money and let everyone know in next months newsletter.

Good Day Skaters,

It's that time again to throw those skates on and boogie around the roller rink!!!  I'm looking forward to seeing you, your friends, and your family rolling around with smiley faces!!!!

I will be sponsoring a new charity this month.  PAWS of Austin (Protection for Animal Welfare Services) is a non-profit animal rescue organization established in Austin, Texas for the purpose of providing refuge to stray and unwanted companion animals. PAWS has breed expertise in Miniature Pinschers and Great Danes.

PAWS is dedicated to bettering the quality of life of homeless animals in the Austin, Texas area. They rescue homeless and unwanted dogs from the City shelter and throughout the Austin, Texas area, and  focus on finding them new permanent and loving homes.

Their Website is http://www.pawsofaustin.org/

Rainbow Skatenight raised $22.00 for Waterloo Counseling Center last month.  Thank you to those who were able to make it.

As usual, skatenight is from 8-11 and will be held at its' usual location, 9415 Anderson Mill Rd.  For rink info you can call 258-8886. Admission is $6.00 which includes skate rental, and you are more than welcome to bring your rollerblades, they even have a few of those.

If anyone has any questions about Rainbow Skatenight you can visit the site at http://www.main.org/rainbowskate/ or call me at 512-296-0381.

Help me welcome our new Charity.....see you there

James D. Svetlik

Dear Rollerskating Pals,

I decided to take this 120 mile journey because 7 out of the 10 charities I sponsor for Rainbow Rollerskate are also benifiting from this ride.  Please help me continue to help those in need.

I have never done anything like this, but have decided to challenge myself while helping others in need. I am participating in the Hill Country Ride for AIDS, a 2 day bicycle ride through the beautiful Texas Hill Country. I am not a cyclist, but with their training program, I'm sure I can do it!

Where do you come in? There are more people living with AIDS than ever before. I have committed to raise a goal of $600.00 to provide basic services, things you and I take for granted every day. I need your help to meet my goal!

As you decide your amount, imagine not being sure if you were going to have enough food, or medical care, or imagine being sick and not having any family to help take care of you. The agencies supported by this Ride provide all of these services and more. Together, we can make a big difference for some wonderful people.

Thank you,

James D. Svetlik

ARI,

Rainbow Skatenight has been changed to the second Monday of every month.  The headcount seems to go up and down, was a great turnout last month.  Hope to see you there, come find me, ask around who's in charge of the event and someone will be able to point me out.  Hope you join us soon.

James

Hello Skaters,

There will be no skatenight this Wednesday.  Because  of lack of interest, Skate World Northwest would like to do something else on Wednesday nights.  However, skatenight has changed to the second Monday of every month.  The next skatenight will be Monday, September 13th.  I will be sending out an e-mail to remind you.  Hope to see you there.

I am in the process of getting flyers done to pass out.  I'd like to thank Don Baker for making a contribution to help getting some flyers made and to Roland Sanchez for helping make some temporary flyers.

Thanks,

James D. Svetlik
