The 2009 State Games of Oregon were held on Saturday and Sunday July 11 and 12,
2009. The State Games of Oregon included Athletics (track and field) events
including the 3000 meter racewalk and 5000 meter racewalk. In the 24th year of
the State Games and the Games continue to include the racewalks.

The events were held in Gresham Oregon at Mt. Hood Community College. The
racewalks were held at Earl Klapstein Stadium on the excellent 400 meter rimmed
track.

The weather on Saturday July 11 at the 10:30 AM start for the 3000 meter
racewalk was a mostly clear sky with a light swirling breeze and a temperature
of 70F (21C).

During Saturday night, there was rain with the rain stopping about 1 hour before
the racewalk on Sunday morning. Competitors, judges, and other volunteers used
squeegees to remove most of moisture from the track surface. The weather on
Sunday July 12 at the 10:00 AM start for the 5000 meter racewalk was a cloudy
sky, very high humidity, light swirling wind, and a temperature of 63F (17C).
