I just received my copy of the new book by Jeff Salvage and Tim Seaman, called
Race Walk Clinic In a Book. A new book on race walking is cause for celebration
and this one will be a welcome addition to any race walker or coach's library.
For me, as a former competitive masters age race walker and now coach of masters
race walkers, the highlights of this excellent book include the focus on
technique and the huge number of photos that clearly demonstrate whatever aspect
the authors happen to be addressing. If you're looking for a book on how to
train, this one isn't for you but if you want a book that will help you develop
and/or refine your race walking technique, this is just the ticket. All the
important aspects of technique are covered but the authors go beyond that by
including drills and specific exercises that will assist the athletes. A coach
could easily put together a skills based workout using this book. The price is
extremely reasonable too, in my opinion. Don't tell Jeff and Tim but I would
have happily paid more, I'm so impressed by the quality of the book. I live in
Canada, and the total cost of the book including shipping, handling and customs
was less than $33.00. Americans will find it even cheaper. Go to
www.racewalk.com and follow the links to order your copy. You won't be
disappointed.
