RE: [UK racewalk] Jo for Beijing :-) but not Dan UK ATHLETICS BEIJING OLYMPIC SELECTION

It seems to me that the gap in the men’s field (UK and the rest of the
world) is getting ever bigger and stronger. What would we have to do to
produce an athlete who could compete at the very top level? If we know what
to do are we doing it? Or are the sacrifices too much for any one to take up
the challenge? Or, with all of the other sports on offer in the UK, are we
unable to attract people into our pool? Or, are we waiting for a miracle to
happen?

There is still so much ignorance at home as to what Race Walking is. Most
people I come across seem to think that its power walking for fitness
purposes only. Until the profile, respect and understanding is raised what
chance do we stand in having a decent pool of walkers to draw from?

Who ever set the B standard time must have known that there would be more
than 8 people achieving the A standard thus precluding the B standard from
being offered a place. If this is down to UKA then they must surely know the
score and why even come up with a B standard knowing that achieving it would
still not get you a place on the team? There are enough people in the UK
making fun of us without our friends(?) doing the same.

Dan has never competed in an Olympics or world championships, it
looks like UKA/BOA don't think Dan can make the top 8 in London 2012.

PS Today is May 20th, 1 year to the day since the European Cup. What
a day that was :-)

bye
