UK ATHLETICS BEIJING OLYMPIC SELECTION
POLICY UK Athletics Olympic Selection Policy July 2007

In cases where no athlete achieves the `A' standard qualifications
described in Section 2, one athlete with the lower `B' standard may
be nominated if they are likely to eventually achieve a podium/top 8
result at the Games, and if their selection provides an important
competitive development opportunity towards a subsequent appearance
in 2012. Specifically, an athlete nominated under the `B' standard
would be expected to meet one or more of the following criteria:

demonstrate a rising profile as an emerging performer, through, for
example, achievement of the `B' standard at multiple events;

demonstrate a level of performance which would be capable of
eventually achieving a podium/top 8 at the Games; and/or

not have previously participated in an Olympic Games, and in no more
than one World Senior Championships.
