Hello all,
After 30 years off the walking scene I'm not yet sure who is doing what
in the way of reporting results to the press. I've been very flattered
at the welcome back I've had from friends on and off the road and track
as well as from friends off the road/track who were enemies on it!
I do not know who is reporting results to RWR, AW and elsewhere, but
whoever they are please can they remember that I am a descendant of a
Scottish son of Thomas (some would say son of Tavish) and definitely
NOT a son of an English Thompas. I.e. my name is Arthur Thomson not
Thompson however distinguished that name may be in Race Walking circles!
Also, I am flattered that some may believe I am not yet a state
pensioner and are recording me as V60 when in fact I am nearer 70 than
65 and am truly not all that far off being V70.
Sincerely, I am really enjoying returning to the fold and looking
forward to more competition and perhaps to helping more towards
returning our sport to the position it deserves, not just as a sport
that can be undertaken by injured runners, but as one that can be
excelled in by a group of people with a particular set of physical
attributes that allows them to excel at this, but perhaps not any other,
sport. Like me.
Looking forward to meeting more of my old friends.
Arthur THOMSON.
Sorry but as a genealogy freak I am conditioned to putting surnames in Caps.
