Hopefully summer practices are going well. I'm writing to remind
everyone that the Sixth Annual VETO mirror is just over a month away
and the team entry deadline for is July 1st. If you're already on a
team, please send me your team list (jason.dickson at utoronto.ca). If
you're a "free agent," also let me know. So that everyone is clear re
the entry requirements, there is no cost to play but each team must
submit a pack. There is no central editor ("guerilla-style").
So for those of you who were wondering (and even those of you who weren't) the date for VETO is Saturday, July 18. VETO is the annual summer tournament based in Vancouver, with mirrors in Ottawa and McMaster this year.
The tournament is open (anyone can play regardless of student status, age, etc.), the questions are a combination of academic and pop culture, and the packs are written by the players. The format is quite similar to Hybrid, but there's a mandatory minimum number of Canadian content questions.
Anyone who's interested in playing should reply to this message and I'll post more details later this week. The tournament is free, but you'll have to make your own way to Hamilton (the bus is something like $8 each way).

I'm in for VETO. My sister (who normally plays for Queen's) may want to be squeezed onto a U of T team as well if possible -- it doesn't look like there's much interest from her club.

I'm not interested in playing at the moment but I need some question writing
practice so if anyone needs any questions written for their team in any category
whatsoever lemme know.

Attention all humans. We are your photos. Free us.
Like Sinan, I offer my help to any team that might need questions (I
will do lit., fine arts, or soc. sci.). I'm going to defer my place to
newer competitors this time around, but if your team is stuck for a
fourth player, let me know and I can join you.
I should add to Jessica's announcement that this tournament is an
excellent opportunity for those of you who came to practices this
season but did not attend any tournaments. VETO is laid-back,
cost-free, and you’ll also get a chance to receive peer feedback on
your questions (as opposed to submitting to a distant editor).
Hope everyone is having a good summer,
Jason

I don't really want to go to Hamilton, and since I haven't played since last year's VETO I'm hardly an actual member of the club anyway, but I could also help write questions if any are needed. History and religion/mythology are my usual areas. (Crusades theme pack? Anyone? No? Oh well.)

I really don't want to play, but I can probably come as a moderator if it would
be helpful. I can also write questions about anything other than chemistry.
