The Ice Weasels had beaten Felix & The Cats twice before (Winter
2000-2001), so this victory was within reach. The game was close the
entire time, with both team scoring about the same number of runs during
each inning. Both teams had consistent offense, partly due to defensive
blunders by each team. However, Felix managed to pull ahead late in the
game. Going into the bottom half of the 5th inning, Felix was winning by 6
points (17-11). The Weasels began their rally, and got the tying run to
second base before Nathan lined out to the shortstop, to end the game. Nathan's
hit
was a rocket, but unfortunately the shortstop was in exactly the right
place. Had it gotten through, the game would have easily been tied.
The final score was Felix 17, Ice Weasels 15. Once again, the Weasels lost
a close game at the low intermediate level. Despite the 0-3 record so far
this season, the Ice Weasels are not outmatched. Thanks a lot to Lupe
for subbing for us, and to Pete for pitching for us.
