This was the final game of the Summer I season, and the Weasels wanted
to end on a high note, after their disappointing loss last week. To this
end, the offense went immediately to work. In the top of the first
inning the Weasels had all 12 of their batters come to the plate, and
scored 6 runs. Over the course of the game the offense continued,
highlighted by in-the-park homeruns by Neil and Matt. The defense also
made itself known With a runner on first, Neil caught a low-hit rocket
and fired to Cyndi at first to get the double play. Cyndi played a solid
game at first base, Neil pitched excellently, Matt and Newton were
excellent in the outfield, and the infield played great defense. Going
into the top of the final inning, the Weasels were ahead 9-7. By the
time the top half of the inning was over, the Weasels had doubled their
score. The Crayon Eaters tried to strike back, but only managed to score
3 runs before they were shut down. The final score was Ice Weasels 18,
Crayon Eaters 10.
This game was played with the intensity of a tournament game, because a lot was on the line. The Weasels put their best team on the field, including the...
