A very close game throughout. Chris was on fire offensively, smoking every ball he hit. Eric got an in-the-park homerun to score the Weasels' first run, and Matt blasted an out-of-the-park homerun that sadly counts as an out in our league. The defensive star of the game was Matt at shortstop, making several nice plays. Despite these heroics, going into the bottom of the 6th inning, the Weasels were trailing by a couple runs. After a dramatic rally, the Weasels pulled ahead 10-6. Time had almost expired, but the rally ended with just enough time for another inning. In the top of the 7th, the Flamingoes staged a rally of their own, and pulled ahead 11-10. Azzy led off the bottom of the 7th inning by lining to left field. The left fielder robbed her of a hit by a nice catch of the sinking liner. Chris then hit a ball to the outfield which ended up being a triple due to his speed and aggressive baserunning. Nancy singled, scoring Chris and tying the game. Eric hit a long fly ball to deep left field. It wasn't clear whether it was going to stay in the park or not, but it hit just at the base of the fence. Nancy had run almost all the way to second base, waiting to see if it would be caught. When it was not, she hustled to third base and Mitch (the third base coach) waved her home. She scored the game-winning run standing up, as Eric coasted into third on the throw to the plate. Thus the Weasels won their 60th regular season game with a score of 12-11. Thanks to Azzy, Nancy, and Dayna for subbing.
