Hi, PUMPsters and PUMPettes!

I am pleased to announce that our FL5 trail party has some super
volunteers coming out for the FL5 work party this Saturday. So far,
that number including myself and Jeff from the Forest Park
Conservancy is NINE. My bike helmet off to the people who've stepped
up to the plate and put their name on the list - I know we can do
better, folks! Please, please, please come out and join us.

At our first Forest Park Mountain Biking Ad-Hoc Committee meeting
last night, I can tell you attendance is KEY if we want more trails
for bikes in the park. Key issues:

1. Environmental Concerns
2. Trail Maintenance! This is to say: "The system is already strained
with the demands already in the park. If we build more trail, how
will we maintain it?" This is even more pronounced when we consider
that the trails might end up being specifically for mountain bikers.
3. Funding (which loops back to #2)

We have cited the success of mtb clubs like COTA, BRMBA, DOD, etc
with the trails those clubs maintain. Now it's about us. This work
party will demonstrate our commitment to singletrack should we get
it. I can tell you, all ears are listening now. We need to stand up
and deliver. I was asked by numerous people last night how many we
have coming on Saturday ...

Please let me know if you are coming. The Friends of Forest Park have
posted this on their website, several bike shops have put up notices,
and I've posted it to Mtbr.com

I know everyone is eager to hear about our Forest Park progress. I
will be sending Amy content on the subject for the next newsletter.

This Sunday? Probably last chance for the year. Can't ruin the FP work party
Saturday though. Shane? I've got the shuttle rig.

Let me know if you end up doing it again. I love that trail and would love
to do it again before the weather is gone.

It was yesterday... and we shuttled it! The trail was in fantastic
shape. We had a great turnout, 12 riders in all. No injuries and only
one flat. If the weather holds I just might go do it again sometime
soon!

I was swamped w/ dumb ol' responsibile-person type stuff this weekend and had to
sit it out also. Though I too would absolutely love to get out and do that trail
(or another one in the same general area) once more this season.

Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain Guy has officially jinxed any hope we might
have had of the weather holding out and staying nice for a few more days by
calling for it do so. In fact, I think I can see some thunderclouds rolling in
over my cubicle now. Thanks Guy.

It was yesterday... and we shuttled it! The trail was in fantastic
shape. We had a great turnout, 12 riders in all. No injuries and only
one flat. If the weather holds I just might go do it again sometime
soon!

It was yesterday... and we shuttled it! The trail was in fantastic
shape. We had a great turnout, 12 riders in all. No injuries and only
one flat. If the weather holds I just might go do it again sometime
soon!

SWEET!!! Just to clarify; Meet at the South Lot, Gateway Transit
Center @ 8am. It'll take us 15-20min to arrange vehicles and peeps to
carpool so if anybody's running late or decides to bail then please
call me on my cell!

Just got off the phone with the Mt Adams Ranger District. There is NO
SNOW and there's no expected precipitation before Sunday. It'll be
cold in the morning and should hit a high near 60. I'd suggest
meeting at Gateway Transit, 8am to carpool. Sound good? Can I get a
roll-call of those interested so far?

Cecily and I are in. The only thing that could slow us is that I am still
working on putting my new bike together. It should be finished tomorrow.
