Hey PUMP,
In an attempt to boost membership and take advantage of the summer Wednesday
night rides as a recruiting ground, I wanted to propose a rota for Meeting
and Greeting of new members. I suggested this to the Board tonight and they
thought it was a good idea.

I am looking for volunteers to commit *one Wednesday night* ride in June,
July or August where they will be responsible for greeting any new people
who show up for the ride. I see the responsibilities of this person as the
following:

- Be at the Thurman Gate by 5.30pm at the latest on the assigned
Wednesday with paper & a pen.
- Keep an eye out for any new riders and make an announcement asking any
new people to identify themselves.
- Introduce yourself to the member and briefly tell them about PUMP and
the typical Wednesday night ride format.
- Have them write down their name, phone number and email address and
later provide this to Bill Willems or Ryan Tyler so they can be contacted
about joining the club.
- Give them the website address of PUMP and suggest they check it out if
they haven't already.
- Ask them about their biking experience and let them know that you will
accompany them for the entire ride, however short or slow that may be. If
the rider is very capable and possibly faster/stronger than the Meet n
Greeter then you can find another rider at their level to commit to
accompanying them for the whole ride.
- Invite them to Crackerjacks afterwards and accompany them there if
necessary.

I see this as key to boosting PUMP membership and solidifying the club's
reputation as a friendly bunch of mountain bikers who encourage anyone to
join. It is also a good opportunity for you to contribute to the club and
play a part in its success.

So...we need volunteers! Here are the dates for the summer Wednesdays.
Ideally I would like to have two names for each Wednesday so that if one
person cannot make it they can ensure the other is definitely going to show
up. I'll start it off by taking one slot for next Wednesday. Who else is
in? I will send out the list as I get responses and possibly put it on the
website calendar also.
