BAYAMON, PR -- The Puerto Rico Islanders had to come back from a deficit for the second straight year against the Rochester Rhinos when the two teams faced each other Sunday evening in Puerto Rico. And the Islanders defeated the Rhinos 4-1 to advance to the semifinals of the USL-1 playoffs.

Steele set up all four goals, including two from AddleryRochester had a 2-1 lead coming into the game, as they won the opening leg of the home and away series on Thursday night in Rochester, but quickly found itself trailing Sunday night after the Islanders scored an early goal by Fabrice Noel to tie the series score.

Later, in the 29th minute, the referee awarded a second yellow card to Rochester defensemen Brent Sancho, thus taking him out of the game with a red card, and putting the Rhinos with one less man on the field.

The Islanders wasted no time taking advantage of this when 10 minutes later Jonathan Steele centered the ball in front of the net, where Nicholas Addlery headed it to the back of the net to give Puerto Rico a 2-0 lead in the game and a 3-2 overall advantage.

The game went back and forth with the Islanders getting the majority of the opportunities to score and being the more aggressive team of the two.

The Islanders started the celebration at the 80 minute mark when Fabrice Noel’s great individual effort culminated in another goal for Puerto Rico, to put the score 3-0 in the game and 4-2 in the overall series.

Three minutes later though, the celebration was put on hold after Rochester answered back with a goal of its own to close the score to 3-1 in the game and 4-3 in the series.

But Puerto Rico was determined to close out the series with a win after Nicholas Addlery scored the fourth goal of the game for the Islanders at the 90 minute mark.

With the win by the final score of 4-1, Puerto Rico finishes the Rochester Rhinos season for the second year in a row, and advance to the semifinals of the USL-1 to face the Montreal Impact.
