If you’re racing the Masters events, or anything on
the UCI calendar, other than Elite Men, Elite Women, U23 Men,
or Junior Men, you can use them.
“Disk brakes
are not allowed in UCI events other than mountain bike events. While last year
this was an interpretation of the UCI given that disk brakes had never been
approved for any races, this year it has been clearly written into the UCI
rules that disk brakes are not allowed. Thus, if you are riding cyclocross, you
may use disk brakes only if the race is USCF only. For any event on the UCI
calendar, if you are in the Elite Men, Elite Women, U23 Men, or Junior Men, and
these races were put on the calendar, then you cannot use disk brakes. If the
organizer has also included masters events or events for category 3 riders, or
juniors below 17 years old, then disk brakes will be allowed.”

I would have a pretty
sure bet that Curtis Boivin would have won the 35/45+ race today if not for
rolling a tubular on the first lap at Coonamessett and
getting lodged behind other riders. It was nearly impossible to pass on
most places on the twisty, narrow course. If you’re like me, you
just run your chain into the spokes and lose places that way. Geoff
Williams raced for the first time in ‘cross in several years. I
think if you asked him, he’d say he had fun. I saw some woman who
looked to be 80 years old, but I heard she was in fact, 65 in the beginner
class. The beer after the race was really cool, and I had possibly the
best scone I ever tasted there, so that just about rounds it out. Oh, we
didn’t even get rained on..
I have some sizes of clothing I’ll post later that are
available at the Providence Bicycle shop.

I need to get out and do at least one more ride before this
weekend. Tuesday might work for me, Not sure if i can skedaddle
as early as 4pm... would have to hit riverside and do the
bike + kid exchange, kinda kills the daylight, unless yall wanted to
warm up with a ride down the EBBP (with me prior to bike change) and do
laps around Haines Park in Joe B's and my neck of the woods. Wed
would be about the same for me.
I'm up for a lunch skills ride (noon-to noon-thirty) on tuesday or Friday... as an option/addition.
Anyone want to do some cross work this week? I'm available tuesday and
wednesday afternoon/ evening. Tuesday I have a 3pm meeting that hopfully
will be done at 4 and wednesday i'm open. I can go to noonawhasaname park
or to lincoln. Work the bugs out of the cross rides cause we have
coonamesset cross this weekend out near falmouth or something.

I've got some 26 x 1.5 conti tires that can make it more cross like. I
might have a rigid mtb fork around too. I'd have to look for that one. Let
me know if you're interested. I'll sell the tires for $25 for the pair.

I probably won't be able to attend the cross ride this weekend...
Thinking about Monday and Friday next week for a skills only type o
lunch.
And Mark, ya could do cross training on a mt bike... take the bar
ends off (if ya ride with em) and ya can race in most cross races
around here... assuming ya got a hard tail, dem full sus bikes
just are usually a wee bit harder to carry...

you or an imposter..
The 4 1/2 hour drive is a little long for me this weekend. Good luck!

Whaa? its a double header this weekend! Anyone up for catamount? Word on
the street is that the course runs through the beer tent. I'm leaving
friday afternoon. Back sunday. Sticking with the masters racing right now.
6th last weekend. I can do better. Especially if its not 75 degrees
during the race. Forecast looks like rain showers.... perfect cross
weather. So work out a 7-10 minute lap at Nudeakahuna park while i'm gone.
maybe some stairs, a steep hill, then some rolling sections and I'll ride
it next wednesday.

No stock designs, Bobby is working on something really cool and we'll all
have a say in what we would like to have it look like. I don't want to have
to buy a new bike to match the jersey either..stay with me here.

What new jersey design? new sponsors or a jersey re-design? I hope you
dont mean you're looking at stock jersey designs. We currently have a
custom designed jersey and I would hate to swithch to a semi custom or off
the shelf design.
