you probably know our dear friend Chris from Prov Velo, one of the safest
riders I know.
He was hit by a bus yesterday (email below).
I will send flowers from the club -- if you want to contribute, let me
know. I'm in Florida until Monday evening, but I'll be around to help
with anything and everything once I get back....

On why busses and bikes do not mix:
As you might have already heard, yesterday afternoon Chris was riding his
bike through Providence when he was struck by a bus. He was taken to Rhode
Island Hospital were he was diagnosed with a shattered color bone, broken
ribs and a collapsed lung. They operated soon after and repaired his
collarbone with a metal plate to secure the bone fragments while they heal.
The initial CAT scan was normal but he is experiencing numbness in his face
so he will go for another scan tomorrow. Chris is conscious and he is
breathing on his own with a little help from a chest tube.
There is no word as of yet on when Chris will be released. As for now, he
is morning the loss of a promising racing season and celebrating the fact he
is alive.
Chris is in the CO-OP unit in Rhode Island Hospital Room 421 bed 2, He will
also have his cell phone as of tomorrow night.
I can be reached at 401-726-2700
