DC Velo channels Colavita at CSC

There's little argument that Colavita has the most powerful and effective
lead-out train in domestic pro cycling today. On Sunday, it was fast enough
to power past HealthNet in the last lap and set up dimunitive CX specialist
Luca Damiani for a sprint victory ahead of crit strongman Karl Menzies. It's
a train so swift, in fact, that Colavita routinely puts two or even three
guys across the line in the top 10.
But on Sunday in the 1/2/3 race at CSC, CleanCurrents p/b Don Beyer Volvo
upped the ante on Colavita. In the closing laps, their red and blue kits
swarmed the front of the field, launching David Bozak to his second
consecutive win at CSC. Unsatisfied, the squad then put Ken Young across the
line for 3rd, Adam Fung in 4th, Josh Frick in 6th, and Nick Mulder in 8th.
This week's featured photo is the train in action, led here by Jason
Meidhof. The picture was snapped by Danielle Robertshaw. The

If you have a shot that you'd like to see as a Featured Photo on
GamJams.net, send it in. I try to update on Mondays or Tuesdays with a photo
from the previous weekend, so push a few my way as soon as you wipe down
your bike and/or your tripod. And no, you don't need to be a pro or even
need to take professional pictures. Whatever shows it like it was works
great here.
So have at it.

<http://www.gamjams.net/2008/06/2008-racing-cal.html> 2008 Racing Calendar
- now with less suckiness
Posted: 02 Jun 2008 12:40 PM CDT
The 2008 Race Calendar - in the left hand column of every page - was
embarrassingly out of date. It's not anymore, as all MABRA and VA Cycling
races through the end of the road racing season are current, with the most
accurate linking available anywhere on the internet.
There's a ton going on in June in the Mid-Atlantic, including the
<http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6447> VA State Senior
Crit Champs, the <http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6632>
MABRA Age-Graded Crit Champs, and 4 separate occasions to talk yourself into
buying a new TT bike (including the
<http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6234> Fiorucci VA State
TT Champs).
There are also some notable new events on the horizon, including:
§ The race formerly known as The Quicksilver, but which is now the
<http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6446> New and Improved
Ride Sally Ride. A bona fide crit, this one is on a 1km triangular loop,
allowing for some hot cornering. But race promoter David Wiesenhahn of WWVC
told me also that he got a permit for all 4 lanes, so while a tight line
exists, there ought to be plenty of room for moving up (and screwing up).
§ <http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6386> AVC's Tour of
Washington County (MABRA's only stage race). I can't believe this one isn't
packed to the gills event - a stage race less than 2 hours away, AND
promoted by AVC and Joe Jefferson? This will be the hottest ticket of the
season, conveying major bragging rights. You. must. register. now.
§ The <http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6444> Kazane
Racing Working Man's Classic 3-day midweek twilight omnium: this one would
be cool without the primes, but there's one every lap anyway. Check out
<http://kazaneracing.com/?page_id=15> KazaneRacing.com for complete
details.
§ And it's also not too early to plan your July 4th holiday, perhaps with a
trip to Roanoke for the
<http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6572> ID3 3-day Race
Series.
I know mid-summer races don't fill as early or as often, so the lure to
postponing registration until the last minute is strong. But there are
<http://www.gamjams.net/2007/03/3_reasons_to_re.html> reasons to register
early that maybe you haven't thought of. I'm just saying.
(And yeah, I know there's still no MTB or multisport or Cross on the
schedule for this year. I said "less suckiness", not "zero suckiness." Even
though GamJams occasionally refers to itself in the first person plural, we
are still just one guy.)
