Didn't notice everyone was a "full man"...maybe
you need to take a closer look next time! Anyway, I'm
glad they were able to get you on the team. Have fun
this weekend - I heard they got over 2' of new snow!!
Thank you Ken! I didn't realize that the teams were full when I asked that
question, oops, didn't notice everyone was a "full man". No pun intended...ok
maybe a little.
White Team:
Robyn-1/2
man
Kerry-1/2man
Jim-1man
Ken-1/2man
Nada-1/2man

Red
Team:
Glen-1man
Ted-1man
Val-1/2man
Lillian-1/2man
If Nada wants to play on April 1, I can drop to a
1/2 to make room for her. We should try to include
everyone that wants to play. She wouldn't be on the red
team, but I think she'd be on the winning team.
Tourney Day will remain on Sunday April 1st. The
teams have been drawn out of a hat.

White
team:
Kerri- 1/2 man
Robyn- 1/2 man
Ken- 1
man
Jim- 1 man

Red team:
Glenn- 1man
Ted-
1man
Val- 1man

Pony matchup will be decided by Mary.
Each man will have one horse in the fast category and
one horse in the slow category. Tourney Day will
include stick and ball time with each horse prior to the
4 chukker match. The cost will be $80 for one
horse(2 chukkers) and $160 for 2 horses(4 chukkers).
Don't worry about the teams, there will be another
Tourney with another draw. Try to practice together and
work on strategy and teamwork in the coming lessons
prior to Tourney Day.

Val
A couple people were unable to make the April 1st
date. Would anyone object to moving it to the
8th(Sunday). We need a minimum of 6 full players to pull this
off. Being our first try at it, it would be great to
include everyone who is interested. Hope to hear from you
soon!
Val
Hope everyone's having a great week. I'm away
this weekend, but go ahead and include me in the draw
for teams and horses - 1 man, 2 horses. Maybe someone
can post the results on the club message board. I'll
be curious. Val, I gave Angela a check for you for
the shirt. Do you think they'll be in by next
weekend? Everyone have a fun lesson, play well and I'll
see you next weekend.
I have received some commitments for Tourney Day
either verbal or email. I need to know if you wanted to
rent 2 horses for 4 chukkers or 1 horse for 2 chukkers
if there are enough players. The date is for Sunday
April 1st. Please confirm via email as soon as
possible. I would like the teams drawn by this weekend. So
far the list is:
Ted, Ken, Jim, Val, Angela, and
Lillian. Hope to hear from you soon!

Val
Let me know what you think? The first idea didn't
go well with Mary, because of the limitations of
both the riders and the horses. Since only certain
players can ride certain horses, only those riders can
draw for that horse. For example; Pompa has a weak
back, and is a fast horse. So the only people that can
draw for Pompa will be limited by size and ability.
Where as Dakota, most of us will be able to draw for
this horse. Mary will have the final say on who can
draw for which horse. I think this would be the most
fair given the multiple factors involved. All
suggestions are welcome.

Val
Kerry,
I'll be there Saturday, but can't make
it on Sunday. Mary is thinking about going to
Florida on Sunday, but check the machine for
sure.

Don't worry about mailing me the check for the shirt.
Give it to me when you see me. The shirts are actually
in the mail, but I don't think they'll make it for
this weekend. I'll let you know.

Val
Hi val, tourney is a great idea, and april 1 is a
good day. would be interested in hearing additional
details; maybe we can brainstorm at lessons this weekend.

i plan to be there sunday and will give you check
for the shirt then; if you won't be there, should i
mail it to you?

the mystery horse:
PAMPA!!

kerry
Tourney Day has been approved by Mary. The
details of how to draw the horses fairly still need to be
worked out. As discussed previously, if you want to play
on 2 horses, the cost would double a single horse.
Projected date is April 1st for our first run at it. Please
let me know ahead of time if you are interested so we
can draw the teams up this weekend. Hope to hear from
you soon.

Answer to the mystery horse is
coming this weekend. Please submit your answer by
Saturday.

Val
I have an idea which I talked to some of you
about already about a tournament/match day at the end
of every month. I still have to see what Mary thinks
about it as well. I want to know if any of us would be
interested in playing a 4 chukker match at,let's say, the
last Sunday of each month instead of our usual lesson.
This match would be a 3 on 3 for 4 chukkers. We would
have to rent 2 horses if you want to play a full man,
or rent 1 horse and be a half man for this tourney.
Teams will be decided by a draw. People at a similar
levels will be placed in categories so the teams will be
as fair as possible. Also, horses will be decided by
a draw as well. Horses will also be placed in a
fast and slow category so that one person cannot have
two horses in the fast category. If you draw a horse
above your ability, or one you do not want you can
trade the horse with someone else. Ideally we would set
the date and teams at the beginning of the month so
the players/horses/teams can work and play together
to prepare for tourney day. Tourney day will consist
of some warm-up stick and ball and then the match.
All Mary and Charlie have to do is be umpires. For
those of us who want to play 4 chukkers on 2 horses we
will obviously pay more. I will need to discuss costs
with Mary. We will need 12 horses to play this match,
and I think the school has them.

I know
several of us are interested. I think it's a good way for
us to improve on our polo and take it to the next
level without spending too much more than we already
do. So first, let me know if you guys are interested
in doing this. Then we can work out the details of
organizing the draw with the teams and horses. And ofcourse,
if Mary and/or Charlie doesn't like the idea, then
forget it.

Val
This is an unofficial note. Polo Camp at Potomac
Polo by Charlie and Mary Muldoon will be held on May
31st to June 3rd. It will be an intense all day clinic
for 4 days for all levels of polo. This was discussed
last Sunday after lessons. For those of us regulars in
the school, who is serious about attending? As for
me, I am planning on it.
Val
Val sorry for the inconvenience, can I have a "M"
instead of an "S"? I'm afraid they'll shrink but if is
too late do not worry leave it the way it
is.
Thanks
I'll bring the check next weekend!
Hi all - The VA Gold Cup is coming up and it
might be fun to have a Potomac Polo School spot on the
course. Having done it in the fall I can assure it is a
very fun tailgate experience.

The date is
Saturday, May 5th, 2001. The cost is $500 for a spot on the
first rail (I reccomend this) and we can split this
among the people who want to do. You drive in (bringing
your tailgate supplies, of course) with your party and
have fun!

If you are interested please reply
to this email or let me know during polo school on
the weekend.

Thanks,
Ted
The order for the polo jerseys have been made.
Please confirm the following for the white
shirts:
Jim-XXL #2
Ken-XL #3
Robyn-L #4
Val-L
#1
Nada-M #2
Kerri-M #3
And the following for the
red shirts:
Mary-M #3
Silvia-S #2
The cost
will be $110 per shirt. Please let me know if there is
a problem with the above order. I will let you know
when they are ready. Please bring a check made out to
Val Baliad to your next lesson. Thanks!
Val
I read Ken's message but for some reason can't
reply to it. But I have the same question. Is this a
fun, fashion-thing or will we wear these shirts as
part of a team?

Maybe we can talk about this on
Saturday and Sunday? I think it would be really cool to
organize teams with colors and all. I don't know how to do
that, given scheudles and stuff but I think it could be
really neat to try and make it feel and look like a real
match.

What do you think?
Val, I've never seen any of the red jerseys, can
they have the same pathces as the white ones? Becasue
if not, the white ones seem to be nicer. If this is
correct and ok with you, just order me a white one
instead of a red one and I agree to pay the $10 extra.
Thanks and let me know
Would anyone be against adding an American Polo
patch on the upper chest of our white jerseys? The cost
would jump up from $100 to $110. I think it's worth the
$10. Also it's $100 instead of $90 because of the 10%
discount moved over towards Mary's fee/shirt. Jim, I
recommend the XXL because they shrink quite a bit at 100%
cotton. Ken's XL was just right, before washing. Silvia,
I can get you a red one at $100. So far the order
is as follows:
Jim- xxl #2
Mary-m
#2
Val-L #1
Nada-M #2
Kerri-M #3
Silvia-S
#2(red without chest patch)

Number 2 seems to be
a favorite. If anyone objects to the $10 increase
with the patch, I can leave it out. It's only fashion.
I bet we are the best dressed group of polo
students around.
Val
Val I'm also interested in the polo jersey, I
would like to have the red one instead of the white
one, but if that is not possible I'll take the white
one.
Thanks
Silvia-S #2
How should I pay
you, by check or by credit card?
Quite a few people were interested in getting the
white polo jerseys. I will be taking orders and will
submit one this week. They will be from pologearusa with
numbers in red with black outline and Potomac Polo in the
front in black. Let me know what size and number you
want on your shirt. If you want the red that can
probably be arranged as well. The cost will be
approximately $90. They end up giving us a 10% team discount.
This 10% will go to Mary who allowed us to use the
name on the shirt. She opted for a shirt herself
instead of cash.

So far I have orders
from:
Jim- XL #2
Mary-M #2
Val-L #1
I've heard
that maybe Ken, Nada, Kerry, Silvia, and Angela were
interested. Please confirm with me by email.
Val
Hi Everyone. I thought we could try to see if
this made it easier to stay in touch. We can upload
photos if anyone has a digital camera (Val or Lillian?).
Give it a try and see what you think...

See
ya!

-Ted
