Well, we did our best but events conspired against us in the most
unexpected ways. During the week we had several horses down with
injuries that were not too serious but nevertheless prevented us
from working them; fortunately by game day they were ready to play.
Game day arrived and our 2 goal player was nowhere to be found and a
substitute 1 goal player was used with whom we had never played with
before. Add these troubles to some arguably curious officiating
combined with our inital ineffectiveness on offense and defense and
by halftime we were again down, this time 3-1. Mary and I once
again put the hammer down on defense and shut the opposition off for
the next two chukkers while our other players knocked in a couple of
goals in the fourth chukker after a scoreless third chukker. Sudden
death overtime was the decision point. Unfortunately, a high speed
fall resulted in an injury that took me out of the game, the Potomac
team fought hard but it was too much play a man short - three
against four - and they eventually succumbed.
School classes will continue this week on Tuesday and Thursday
evenings at 6PM sharp.
