Red Eagle Polo Team makes the finals! We're pleased with our
efforts this past weekend. Our team managed a come from behind
victory and we'll be competing in the finals for the 2005 USPA
Eastern Circuit Player's Cup 4 goal tournament this coming Sunday.
We'll post the time and directions to the event later this week.
We'd love for all of our students and friends to come out and cheer
us on. Sunday's match was tricky. We got off to a poor start and
were down 4 goals to 1 at half time. But with more aggressive play
and tighter man to man defense we managed to shut down the
opposition and surge ahead by game's end for a final score of 5 to
4. Joe III and Doug B. provided the firepower up front to put us
ahead while Mary and I kept the opposition out of our endzone. Many
thanks are due to Capt. Kerry for acting as stand-in groom for Mary
and I. Capt. Kerry was really nice to take the place of our regular
groom who was out sick. She was exceptionally helpful keeping
everything organized and ready to rock through the match. Big Joe
Muldoon also helped the cause and provided essential half time
coaching that was instrumental in the success. Finally, a big
thanks and some serious recognition is due to Mary for sorting
though dozens and dozens of horse this spring and picking some very
talented young mounts for our new strings. She's not only found
great horses but she's doing a superb job keeping them fit and
training them for the future.
Polo School classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Please call ahead to reserve you space and be sure to arrive early.
We'll see you on the playing field tomorrow!
There will be another clinic this fall so we'd like to receive your
expressions of interest. Please call or email Mary immediately so
that we can start the lengthy process of matching player's abilities
and schedules. You'll have an incredible time learning polo at the
Read Eagle Ranch during the most wonderful weather of the year.
