Polo this week(end) 09 Sep 2005   Message List

What a busy week it has been. We had the Wedding Cup Anniversary
Polo Match on Monday and it was a superb 4 chukker 3-goal event.
Red Eagle Polo played to win with Mary, Joe III and Big Joe Muldoon
and Dante on the team versus Cloverdale featuring Mara Hagen, Jim
Lewis, Robin Thomas and Juan Carlos Gonzales. Charlie Muldoon
served as announcer and resident comedian. You have to give a lot
of thanks to Charlie for not only showing up but working the
microphone from the nice couch we set up on the sidelines. How many
people with a seriously broken neck (from only a few weeks ago)
could leave their bed yet alone do what he did. The play was not
slow and the large crow really got into the game. After some
miscues between the Red Eagle team things got organized and after
halftime the home team pulled away for the win. Big Joe picked up a
couple of goals and two more were snatched up by Dante. Mare and
Juan Carlos each had a goal at the end. The Post match party was a
raucous affair with a small mountain of every type of meat available
hitting the grill. We entertained over 70 guests at the red Eagle
Ranch and kept the party going late into the evening (and thereby
forced Dante to take another vacation day from work on Tuesday-
ouch!). The touch football game was another highlight of the day
with two very robust teams, including Big Joe as QB for one of the
teams.

We had a wonderful class on Thursday evening with perfect weather
and an enthusiastic group of players. Classes resume on the regular
schedule next week. Again, please try to show up a bit early since
the daylight is getting shorter and we'd like to stay on schedule
for starting.

This weekend the Red Eagle Polo Team will compete in a USPA 4 goal
tournament. Wish us luck!
