The last lessons of the year took place this past weekend and we are
now closed for the winter hiatus. However, for those who lease
horses from us, polo and other enjoyable equestrian activities will
continue in earnest through the off-season. We still have leasing
opportunities available, so get off of your chair and into the
saddle with us this winter. Forecasts are for an unusually moderate
winter (just step outside today!) so there will be plenty of riding
for sure. Call Mary today to discuss how we can get you trained for
2005 through leasing arrangement. Sitting at home is not an option
for real polo players: continue your riding year-round or suffer the
consequences when the season reopens.
With the start of the new year we are looking forward to some
exciting polo in the Potomac Polo School and with the Potomac Polo
Club in 2005. We'll keep you informed of special events as they
develop. The Club will have many special matches in 2005 and you
certainly should attend as many as possible. Entrance fees are
reasonable and always go to a good cause, indeed one of the first
grass field events of the year, The Courage Cup in early June is
expected to host almost 1,000 guests and surely will be a charitable
polo event you won't want to miss. We'll also have the Madison Cup,
The Tast of Argentina, and many other polo events.Even better than
watching these is playing in the matches. But that will only happen
for people who are dedicated to the sport and make the comensurate
commitment. To paraphrase a distiguished former student, Dr. Val
Baliad (who has several USPA tournament wins to his name in
2004) "there's no better place to learn to play polo and get
introduced to the sport than the Potomac Polo School and Polo
Club."
