We had an awesome weekend of polo. Class was held Saturday morning
in the Red Eagle Arena followed by a four on four scrimmage on the
new Red Eagle grass field. The students then joined us at the
Courage Cup Polo Benefit that was being held at the Potomac Polo
Club's outdoor arena. The party was well attended with over 500
people in the VIP tent alone and lots more on the tailgating field.
The main match was a fine four-chukker 12-goal game with Team
Michelob versus the Madison Hotel. Michelob consisted of Alan
Nash (2), Ted Torrey (5) and Jonas Larguia (5). Madison Hotel was
Tareq Salehi (2), Joe Muldoon (4) and Charlie Muldoon (6). Umpires
were Joe Muldoon, Jr. and Mary Louise Muldoon. I provided the music and
announcing high above the crowds from our new Woodstock-like scaffolding.
Final score was 10 Madison Hotel and 7 Michelob. The party was
superb with spectacularly dressed guests and superb food and drinks
in the VIP tent. Tailgaters had awesome setups and since I couldn't break away
to the VIP tent with the DJ and announcing duties I simply crashed tailgater
parties near the announcing tower for my sustenance during the day. Many thanks
to the Muldoon's and special thanks to our own Potomac Polo School student Greg
Ball for organizing such an unbelievably successful event.
Anyone who can get 700+ people out in high style to a polo match on
his first try will probably organizing the Superbowl in no time at
all. Look for a story by me and photos of the event in an upcoming issue of Polo
Magazine.
Class was also held on Sunday and we'll have more this week and
weekend so call today!
