Classes were held on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday of this past
week. The riding for polo class on Thursday night continues to be
an important part of the students' training regimen and once again I
emphasize that those who really want to improve their polo should
take the time to improve their riding. Saturday's classes were a
lot of fun and I enjoyed playing with both classes as well as a
little one-on-one in the Red Eagle Arena with Julia S. The 9AM
class was pretty fast-paced and the horses as well as the players
certainly put a lot into the effort. It was good to see Asmeen back
in the saddle and we're pleased to have her signed up for the
league. At 11AM we had several beginners who finished their first
three lessons join some of our continuing students in the larger
arena. Everyone had a great time and the newer students did
exceptionally well. It was really satisfying to see the new
students team up with some of the more experienced players. Robyn N
and her talented daughters always make for a great morning of polo
and I thoroughly enjoyed mixing it up with them. Max W. also played
quite well for his first time in the larger arena and he was a real
asset to his scrimmage team. Sunday's class at 11AM was filled with
a sporty mix of students and Mary and I remain impressed with
Nicole's very skillful ball handling abilities up and down the
field. Dr. Chang capped off the last play of the scrimmage with a ¾
field run with the ball and the final score. Well done everyone!
We're planning on participating in a large charity event at the
arena on this coming Sunday. It looks like Mary will field one team
and I'll announce. We're also scheduling a single day tournament
for students just prior to the main polo match. I believe that Mary
has already signed up one team and there are three slots left so
give her a call today for the details and get signed up!
