Sziasztok! (as the Hungarians say)
We hope everyone's doing well at the Red Eagle! We miss playing with
you guys, though Cesar and I have settled down in Budapest
wonderfully now, and have found a great polo school on the North
shore of Lake Balaton (about 1.5 hrs from center of Budapest)run by
Gyorgy Dvoracsek, a Hungarian player who's been instrumental in
getting the game started again in Hungary.
Gyorgy is a one plus goaler who's studied in Argentina (and goes back
there annually to continue his training). He's imported some of his
ponies and trained others from scratch. He was a serious showjumper
before he got into polo about nine years ago. He's looking for a
certification clinic of fairly short duration(that will give a
certificate) for polo referees. Does anyone know of such a clinic
that he could apply for? U.S./European/South American locations all
would be viable.
We'd also like to say that any of you who make it out to Hungary are
more than welcome to stay with us in Budapest. We'd be happy to take
you out to the Kali Club where we're learning now, and friendly
chukkas would always be a blast.
Best to all,
Victoria W. Northrop & Cesar Beltran
