RE: [postiebikes] Re: Oh what has happened? Engine problems..

im more inclined in saying the bottom end bearings nipped upped and thats why it sounds like a thrashing machine now if ya got a lot of vibration now, im betting ya need to rebuild the motor would cost about 600 buck for a rebore, new piston and rings, gaskets, cam chain ,cam chain wheel, cam chain tensioner, bigend bearings ,u may also need a new conrod have a good look as u need to split the crank to put the bearing in anyway  .if ya gonna rebuild make sure ya replace the cam chain and tensioner and cam wheel(plastic guide wheel that bolts in side the cam chain cavity in the barrell) plus u have labour if ya not doing it ya self . before ordering the piston get the old one measured first to determine wat size ya need.dont reuse old parts ya just wasting your time and money
regards pete

I really enjoy riding it though.

It was like a drag on the bike.. like I had a foot resting on the brake, then it sort of popped free.. and the bike was off again. At this stage the engine would have been hot, and working hard up a hill.

I've cleaned spark plug and adjusted gap, checked valve clearances and adjusted the cam chain. I've still got a feeling its got something to do with the cam.. because the cover of the end of the cam on the right hand side gets extremely hot when running. I'm sure it didn't use to get that hot.
